And victorians say they are in the nanny state
From what people are saying in this thread it sounds like they need a few more nannies

Australia is a federation of states which individually have jurisdiction over many things, policing, health and education among them. Thats our constitution, these divisions have always been there but has not often been publicised, the media doesn't care about the disorganised rabble that is the vehicle registration schemes across Australia.
Some of the reaction is driven by different political situations in different states, also differing medical boards advising different states and another advisory group at the federal level.
I think the PM has done a pretty good job of herding the cats and moving the country forward where a more authoritarian approach could have been a much unhappier situation.
With regard to the outbreak in Victoria, it is no worse in its rate of expansion that the outbreak in Tassie around the hospital in the north west (where the nurses were blamed for having a party) or the mess after the cruise ship in NSW.
Queensland, WA and the other states only need to have an administrative slip up and they will also experience local outbreaks. Closed borders will do nothing to stop this, despite the political point scoring.
The Victorian outbreak has an added disadvantage in that people are fatigued by the restrictions and the actual number of cases is small so it is easy for people to rationalise that there is no way that they could be exposed. I'm sure that those large family gatherings did not plan to get the virus. I read today that one of the hotel outbreaks was spread by staff at a hotel sharing a cigarette lighter, that sort of slip up is really easy to see in hindsight but incredibly difficult to foresee in advance.
It is interesting that Andrews for all his hard line rules and talk has not found a way to enforce do not leave home rules in affected local areas. It is either too hard or not yet considered necessary.

The allegation is, c. 60GHz affects the O2 molecule's ability to bind with haemoglobin, making it less available. How MUCH RF energy is required is another matter. However, O2 absorbs 60Ghz limiting it's (5G) range even more.
Telecoms can only blame themselves for the growth in Conspiracy Theories, as they've a history of vehemently denying ANY possibility of harm from phones, nor have they 'proved' that 4G and now 5G *IS* harmless to humans..
If it took over 20 years for epdemiologists/PTB to notice damage from cigarette smoking, (and decades longer to act decisively) how long would it take and more importantly, what action would result if such a link became known?

I do live in reginal WA But that doesn't mean that I am restricted from reading newspapers, listening to the radio, watching TV or looking at newsfeeds.Given that you're in Geraldton how would you know what Victorians are doing?
I also didn't say that ALL Victorians were not taking this virus seriously, I did however say that there are many in your State are being careless/unthoughtful otherwise how do YOU explain why the rest of Australia is doing Much better at containing this virus than VIC is??

Sorry, Superquag, I made that 'Theory' up myself and only put it up as conjecture. I was trying to keep to the context of this thread.
'sit bonum tempora volvunt'
I really do think there's a lot of luck in there too.
NSW and Vic have had the bulk of OS returning infections so it was going to get out into the community, NSW have had really odd things like the Shoalhaven infection last week, so there is low levels of community transmission still occurring, NSW just didn't have a few large family gatherings (25+?) occurring with someone infected to kick things off again.

Well, it wasn't 40,000 Victorians at Bondi Beach during lockdown and it wasn't Victoria that was responsible for the Ruby Diamond debacle, which led to 21 deaths across the country. Or this from Queensland today:
Coronavirus quarantine crackdown to stop Queensland becoming another Victoria - ABC News
"Almost 3,000 people are under quarantine orders in Queensland, with the majority isolated inside their homes.
Police Minister Mark Ryan said he had seen an increasing number of people breaching quarantine orders, as the numbers of COVID-19 cases declined in the state."
And overall, Victoria has done just as well as other States - the testing shows about the same proportion of infection as in other States. And Victoria and NSW are where the majority of overseas travellers enter the country - SA didn't have any direct international flights at all until early June.
As I've said repeatedly, and as has been found here with the widespead testing, a significant proportion of the people with coronavirus either don't have any symptoms or have minor or asymptomatic ones. There's been a lot of snipiing on here from people in Qld, SA etc and I'll repeat myself again - if you aren't testing widely in those States, including people with no symptoms, then it is extremely likely that you're missing actual cases. And therefore you will also get outbreaks. That's the nature of this virus.
