Which I told DHHS at the time. And given that I was working next to Circular Quay, the locus of Australia's first serious outbreak (and actually wondering why people seemed to be coming off the cruise ships without being checked), shopping in Chinatown, staying in accommodation popular with Chinese tourists and regularly catching the airport train there was certainly the opportunity;

    (2) As far as I'm aware globally there's only been two confirmed cases of reinfection, so I'd suggest that there's only a very remote possibility that I could get infected again. I also understand that the antibodies issue is still up in the air.

    The point is that as an asthmatic I'm in what's nominally a high risk group - although, as it turns out they now think that asthmatics aren't as vulnerable as they presumed, and they're not sure why. Nonetheless, it would be helpful to know that I'd had it and it didn't kill me.

    Can understand that alright. There is no escaping the fact that we/the world have a hell of lot of learning to do about this thing or it could go on until Doomsday. Generally it has been extremely badly handled by many which is no surprise to the point you don't know whether you are Arthur or Martha & that in itself would be a surprise. So many theories out there.

    The last thing you need is for your Airway to be restricted even a little bit.

    Multiple studies have shown that antibodies last two weeks to three months. Rarely can they be found past that point. It is pretty much guaranteed that you will no longer have immunity at seven months.

    If you want to dream otherwise it is your life.

    I think that you're missing my point - I would like to have been tested for the SARS-COV-2 antibodies to definitively establish if I had had it, so as to establish if I am one of the many people for whom it's just a relatively mild illness. Not in some quixotic hope that I was now immune. And the antibody testing was being discussed a couple of months ago, not recently, so it wasn't 7 months later.

    FYI, SARs (cf SARS-2) antibodies have been shown to confer immunity for 2 to 3 years - if SARS-COV-2 immunity only lasts a couple of months (and actually, there are reports of them being picked up 4 months afterwards) then you'd best get used to being vaccinated a couple of times a year for the foreseeable future.

    He is on regularly here, and I am well outside Hookturnistan. I rather like him as well, and I think this one was very good. Considering they are all very topical, he must be able to plan and execute them pretty quickly.

    It is just possible that many outside Hookturnistan don't recognise the significance of the name, if they have never driven there! (I lived in Melbourne for 22 years)

    Think I heard it said that we will need enough vaccine doses to vaccinate all 26 million of us twice a year.

    Very good, especially the bit about Sam Newman [ or is it neuman?] The last thing that goes in a crisis is the sense of humour. And now a message from the centre of the AFL universe, in the sunshine.

    Everyone knows the origin of the name of our great republic of Hookturnistan.

    Used to be easy once and was one of the mandatory licence test questions. 'Flinders Street Station to Myers and back' though may have been extended later on.
