Did you know that the George Cross was created because an RN Officer, LtCmdr John Ouvry, the first man to render safe the German magnetic mine, was not awarded the VC because his heroic act did not take place in the face of the enemy? Ouvry, LtCmdr Lewis , CPO Baldwin, and AB Vearncombe were the first RN decorations of the war. The George Medal was also established, only 8 individuals were awarded both the Kings Cross and medal, three Australians in that group. One other Aussie was awardedv the George medal.Those Aussies were the fore runners of the RAN Clearance diving branch.Quote:

All available parks and public spaces are being used for funeral pyres, and in country towns funeral pyres are on public roads. The top minister of Uttar Pradesh, [ whom I won't name } has sent messages to the people to " die without complaining." It's like a Stephen King horror movie. And yet we have people here who can't understand why we are concentrating on small numbers of infected people in quarantine. If we slacken off, look at India, and see our future.

I've just read an article about post COVID patients, who need lung transplants. It's enough to make sure you get vaccinated. Its in Walrus.
Try to imagine: You go to the E.R. with a cough. You’re not even sure that you will be admitted. Days later you are intubated. Consciousness ceases. A month or two pass and then you wake up with hoses in your neck and you learn that transplant and all that comes with it is your only option to stay alive.
How does someone who has never known what it is to have a chronic disease, whose only frame of reference is a healthy life before Covid-19, come to terms with this reality?
