Sure did. I have a book for you to read. NAVY DIVERS by Gregor Salmon. History of the RAN clearance divers. I'm willing to mail it to you, but it must be a boomerang. Did you know that the George Cross was created because an RN Officer, LtCmdr John Ouvry, the first man to render safe the German magnetic mine, was not awarded the VC because his heroic act did not take place in the face of the enemy? Ouvry, LtCmdr Lewis , CPO Baldwin, and AB Vearncombe were the first RN decorations of the war. The George Medal was also established, only 8 individuals were awarded both the Kings Cross and medal, three Australians in that group. One other Aussie was awardedv the George medal. Those Aussies were the fore runners of the RAN Clearance diving branch.

Thanks bob. Poor buggers were behind the 8 Ball alright with Wire cutter Railway lines & Bugger me dead it was a wave that did for them.

Hard to believe now that the Germans came so close to SA & it was reported (in another article of the time) that HMS Warspite was hove to near Victor Harbor on her way back to the UK via a couple of other ports in SE Asia after major repairs in the USA, due to a U-boat scare.

She must have filled the horizon & what a sight to see.. She then departed when advised when it was U-boat clear.

Thanks for the offer & I most certainly will return it post paid. Will be in touch with details with a PM soon.

You have plenty of Witnesses here .https://www.submerged.co.uk/hms-warspite-3/

Spare a thought for India. On Wednesday the highest ever number of cases with 379,257 cases and 3,465 deaths. In a day. ONE DAY. And bear in mind that health officials are saying the toll is much higher, as India does not have a reliable system of recording deaths outside of hospitals, in the country. The Indian PM took a bow for saving humanity by containing the virus during the first wave, while boasting about the virus doing less damage than predicted by experts. All available parks and public spaces are being used for funeral pyres, and in country towns funeral pyres are on public roads. The top minister of Uttar Pradesh, [ whom I won't name } has sent messages to the people to " die without complaining." It's like a Stephen King horror movie. And yet we have people here who can't understand why we are concentrating on small numbers of infected people in quarantine. If we slacken off, look at India, and see our future.

There has been a breach at Brisbane airport. Two passengers arriving from PNG were able to leave the red zone, and mingle in the green zone in a cafe, with 400 passengers going to NZ. Both PNG travellers tested negative before flying to Brisbane, but since one has tested equivocal, giving neither a positive or negative result.

I am still buggered to know why 400 odd PAX can travel in & out of Australia. I thought QUARANTNE meant QUARANTINE not Come as you are.

I'm not sure we can trust opinions from the expert Medical mob any more ie. Drs. Kelly & Murphy. Testing seems to be a bit Ad Hoc.

We really do seem to be going around in circles sometimes, but will we ever get on top of this Covid thing doing this?

To me, it seems jolly unlikely.

Edit. Nice to read where Phizer & AZ are supposedly the same stuff according to the experts. Confusion? Not here there ain't. Well not much..

I've just read an article about post COVID patients, who need lung transplants. It's enough to make sure you get vaccinated. Its in Walrus.

Try to imagine: You go to the E.R. with a cough. You’re not even sure that you will be admitted. Days later you are intubated. Consciousness ceases. A month or two pass and then you wake up with hoses in your neck and you learn that transplant and all that comes with it is your only option to stay alive.
How does someone who has never known what it is to have a chronic disease, whose only frame of reference is a healthy life before Covid-19, come to terms with this reality?
