Not as doable as you might think at the moment - the network is groaning under the strain already - I’ve been on Skype calls 3 times today - video pretty much won’t work - I’ve still got a decent speed at home but overall the network is over capacity by a long way. We run both Optus and Telstra depending on what you do and where you are and the Optus network has been hardest hit from what I can see - can take hours to call an Optus number - just keep getting a ‘Network at capacity’ message most of the time no matter where I dial from (On Telstra). City, Laverton and Sunbury all the same when trying to phone anyone in Optus today.

Leaving schools open.
Probably influenced by the number of families where both parents are out working, full-time /Part time and would be unable to properly supervise kids at home, especially if it's suddenly dropped on them. Anything under a few months notice could be dfficult for them.
Then, as a Teacher observed this morning, the older kids are candidates for 'Cabin Fever' and non-compliance with staying at home could result in wandering aimlessly / getting up to mischief. On-Line Lessons still need self discipline or parental policing.
Personally, I want them open if for no other reason that it gives me another week or two of - some - work.

For those interested in the NZ Govt covid strategy, a link to the PMs speech to Parliament today when she declared a National State of Emergency and the issuing of An Epidemic Notice. We are collectively pretty thankful apparently with a poll released indicating a very strong support for the measures about to become reality at midnight.
State of Emergency: PM's full speech
We'll see what it all looks like on the other side.
I hope this passes muster with the mod's![]()
I reckon it should be ok, she isn't our PM.
It is hard to even imagine with all this going on that there will actually will be "another side" but one lives in hope.
