Neither of those countries had testing or contact tracing in place early on such as we have now.

    You totally missed the point.

I see NZ has had no new cases for 7 days, has no-one in hospital and only one active case, so NZ is doing better than NSW or Victoria.
Victoria is going to ease restrictions on cafes and restaurants from June 1, but is ordering workers to keep working at home for all of June, to prevent congestion on public transport. So Victoria is being responsibly cautious.
Meanwhile NSW is taking a big risk by opening up. They're even going to let clubs have more than 500 people indoors from next week.
So I'd be inclined to let residents of other states and territories and NZ in from July, but keep up the barriers to NSW in case they go the way of South Korea with a second wave and have to shut down again.

Beat me to it by 3 minutes DM

Yep, feeling a little more comfortable here going into winter. At the start of all this I was concerned about the covid crashing the flu party about now but thankfully, it won't happen at the levels I was concerned about.

Still some level of concern out there in healthy levels so the majority are still mindful of how we mix and mingle. There'll still be idiots about that'll cause issues but the rishk has greatly diminished now. All looking pretty good.

Lots of discussion happening about the tourist bubble here. Jury is still out on that. Personally I still see Australia as a way to go before dioors open and get used between us. Our PM has indicated maybe September but the lobbyists are making a great deal of noise here. Aussies for the ski season is one of the noises heard in the media.

Bad luck if the man of the house is a Boilermaker/Welder/Riveter.

Yep, sorry, mistakenly thought it was a reference to our situation here till I read the details in DMs post. Here in Level 2 all are allowed to go back to work IF they can do it safely with regard to social distancing etc. Covid social distancing is incorporated into site occupational health and safety requirements. Means some jobs are nigh impossible to do but also means a vast majority of workers are now back at it on factory floors and work sites around NZ. Still a ****-ton of redundancy happening or about to here. Will be carnage as the Govt wage subsidy stops in June unless there are further extensions. We wait with a collective bated breath to see what happens over the next few months.

I don't think you will be the only ones. With NSW opening up significantly as of Monday, give it , say a week to spread, then up to a fortnight for incubation - should know whether it was the right or wrong move somewhere about 22nd June!

No probs. My Grandson works in a copper/Gold Mine north of here so imagine him taking that home to work on. A Boilermaker would be a piece of cake.

Glad things are on the up over there, so let us hope the mugwumps don't bugger that up for you.
