So far it seems only NSW actually allow you to check out - which would help the contact tracers a lot.
No one I know ever remembers to check out though!

We usually check out, it does allow you to go back and specify a departure time if you have forgotten to do it immediately as well.

Impressed with the mask wearing in Sydney airport atm.
Only one well dressed woman not wearing a mask.
It's so very obvious when someone isn't wearing one with everyone else complying.

During the recent, three day lockdown in Queensland, I was down the Gold Coast, with my sister and brother-in-law from Rockhampton and he pointed out that, in the two days we were there, if there had been any tracking done on us, it would have gone along these lines :

Day One: North Burleigh SLSC x 2; Dan Murphy; Miami Tavern; Boutique brewery; Gin distillery and brewery.

Day Two: Burleigh Heads Hotel; Burleigh SLSC; boutique brewery; Gin distillery; North Burleigh SLSC and Dan Murphy.

Is there a pattern emerging here?

Thank God we returned home for the lockdown!

In the USA, it was said " herd immunity " would be achieved at 60% vaccination level. With the new variants, that has gone up to 90-95 %. Without herd immunity, US scientists have declared it will probably take one to two generations , ie 10 to 20 years , to have the virus under control. The virus will be infecting people for the next 20 years. One unvaccinated worker in an aged home in the US infected around 26 residents, every resident was fully vaccinated. Most were not badly effected but a handful got very sick, and 2 or 3 died. Until every one is vaccinated, this will be the norm. Here is a podcast from the N Y Times, " why herd immunity is slipping away." Click on ' transcript ' for the text.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Anyone recall the 30ish year old American Darwin Award candidate who have a COVID19 party then died from it? A mate of mine in the UK is still getting hammered 12 months after recovering from it.
New Australian data is not nice
"Experts have been tracking the long-term health outcomes of Australians recovering from severe COVID-19 disease, and early results show roughly two in three people have ongoing issues.Key points:

    • Researchers are trying to figure out if the long-term impacts of severe COVID-19 disease are different to other illnesses
    • Long stays in hospital with other critical illnesses can have long-lasting consequences
    • It's not known if, or when, people will recover completely from infection

The study is being conducted across 30 different hospitals in Australia and is a collaboration between researchers, physiotherapists, doctors, and nursing staff who work in intensive care units (ICUs).

Dubbed the COVID Recovery Study, experts have been interviewing about 200 COVID-19 patients to learn more about outcomes six to 12 months after infection." COVID-19 patients from Australian ICUs still reporting symptoms six months after infection - ABC News

The odd thing is some people are scared of the rare side effects from a Vaccine. Odd stuff what people choose to 'make' believe. pun intended. Two months until my second jab Bring it on baby

I've just booked in for my first jab on the 21st June.
Lucky I got in before the end of financial year, ay!

Well, that's no more silly than a lot of other guff sprouted at the time.

I'm sure the virus would have no chance of infecting you, with all that sanitising alcohol in your system
