Read this: All P2 / N95 masks are rated as 'good' at protecting the wearer from the virus. No mask is 100% effective at keeping virus in or out. But the biggest problem is when people don't wear them properly.

It'd be interesting to know how all of the fashion ones rate.

If you read the attachment, you'll see they don't rate very highly, 'limited level of protection'. ...but better than nothing.

Yep that's the second half of the attachment. First half shows the other two - P2/N95 & Surgical Type masks.

Sorry don't agree - following your logic we should have also withdrawn from the Olympics.

While I agree with many that some sporting events should be cancelled and some sports people are treated differently (like AFL/Leaque players) , I think the Olympics is in a different class and it was the right decision to attend and it was the right decision for the QLD Premier to attend for the announcement.

Most people wouldn’t know how to fit a P2 type mask correctly anyway!

We have compulsory fit testing and clean shaven policy on site and it’s not as simple as putting it on.

For example, a correctly fitted P2 mask with a pair of spectacles won’t fog them up. If it does, you’re not wearing it correctly.

P2/N95 masks are the ones that the health dept doesn't want us to wear because they have poor source control (as highlighted in the doc you posted):

Types of face masks | NSW Government
Use masks made with a non-woven, melt-blown polypropylene layer. Don't use masks with holes or a valve, as you will breathe out the virus if you have COVID-19. The main value of wearing a mask is to protect other people.
    and:

How wearing a face mask may help | NSW Government
The main value of wearing a mask is to protect other people. If used correctly, masks may prevent sick people from infecting others.

If you are unknowingly infected, wearing a mask will reduce the chance that you pass COVID-19 on to others.

Even if you are wearing a mask, stay 1.5 metres away from others, if possible.
It seems quite clear which way around it is. Masks are worn to prevent the wearer from spreading disease rather than getting disease.

If you think of it in the context of a medical procedure, medical staff wear a mask to protect the patient not the other way around.
    Cheers,

    Sean

Yes - I agree sort of. I agree it was a risk and maybe we should not have gone - I guess time will show whether it was the right decision or not.
