There would have been some traffic in those days, and maybe a set of traffic lights or two[bighmmm]
Sorry,couldn’t help myself[biggrin]

A mate and I drove this rig through Orange with no clutch after the clutch pipe touched the extractors and let all the fluid go. He had some explaining to do to his old man when we got it home.

I have been for years and still do drive without the clutch (apart from starts and changing down in a hurry)
Sort of became a habit from my first Hunter
The bloody thing just kept rattling apart so it became a necessity
Try and time the lights so I wouldn’t stop or use the starter motor until it shagged itself, then I’d get funny looks giving it a push to get going
Got stuck a few times on hills and have to ask a few helpers
Even got a push from the cops on one occasion, they did t even get out of the car, just put there nose up me bum and gave a nudge, surprised they didn’t give me a yellow sticker
Speaking of noses up the bum, the missus has a couple pairs of those clutchless panties.....
Anyways back to the original thread
I reckon a car is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, brand, model, auto, manual, RHD, LHD, whatever the hell you got, if people don’t won’t it you ain’t gonna sell it (unless you just about give it away)
Me, I prefer manuals, if in traffic, the old 110 gets put in third and tonks along, no need to change gears
Even take off in third if I’m feeling lazy
Each to there own
There’s always gonna be the auto drivers and manual drivers (probably more auto drivers) and I think the value is as I said “what someone is prepared to pay for it”
Now I wonder what the missus is wearing today......🤭[emoji12]
I would drive my old 5 speed RRCs without the clutch, especially in very soft sand and deepish water, as you don't loose clutch drive and therefore, momentum or get a wet clutch plate. As easy as fallin' off a log.
