It doesn't actually say it is Ranger based but says it could be Ranger based - this suggestion has been around for a while and not much has happened.

They’ll need a 4 door version too if they want to crack into the market. I’m assuming they’ll be doing on though. Will be worth a look when they arrive. VW shows off new Ford ranger based Amerok. How about That?

That the Amarok is to be replaced by a vehicle based on the Ranger has been common knowledge for some time. Is part of a bigger commercial vehicle tie up between Ford and VW.

The next revamp of the Transit will also see a VW version. Both (like the Ranger and Amarok) are also expected to have a full reskin so they do not look the same inside and out

Goes to show that the Germans know diddly squat about what the dual cab market wants.
The Amorok was really quite unsuccessful as was the Mercedes.(only more so)

I follow to say that the Germans aren't the only ones who know nothing about what the buyer wants......why single out the Germans when the British have done exactly that with their latest
    Land Rover variants?

those ( other than those who can afford one) who want a new defender look like being priced out of the marketplace and the discovery is so ugly no-one wants to park it in their driveway

Good point except LR has deliberately moved upmarket for years and would not be seen to sell something as humble as a dual cab. So its a deliberate strategy.
McGovern must be a bit embarrassed about the D5 though. But it was deliberate that they are trying to attract luxury car buyers and bugger the proles.
