Was the account no. correct?
I've had a few of them (no account no. and not using my name) but the real email address shows up when I mouse over it.
Received this email today . Sender email details perfectly done.
I checked on my Optus account thinking their computer had made an error as I accidentally paid twice last month so had zero this month. Account said nil due.
Edit On outlook 365 when the email address right clicked it stayed the same as Optus <no.reply@optusnet.com.au> etc but on ipad the address comes up as elo-boost24.ru. Actually the address only comes up as Optusnet when you open the message but the Rumanian address is only shown when you press the update now button.
Optus <no.reply@optusnet.com.au>

No account number just email address which was pawned many years ago but SWMBO will not change as she has many people who know email address as she is president of a golf club.
The Russian or Romanians are probably stuck at home thinking up new scams. The English is perfect.
The sender address did not change when right clicked or amplified on Ipad

The fact it has a LINK to update details is a clear indicator it is a scam. Optus would not normally send an email but a SMS and they would not include a link but say something like - go to your account and update details.
Never respond to an email or sms with a link - check with the organisation separately.

Ive had similar supposedly from my ISP but what lets them down is the email address is always wrong, they obviously have just intercepted some one else's email and done a lazy copy and paste.

As Ron has pointed out, no account number and no real / full name.
I have found legit emails from my bank, PayPal, internet provider use my full name and not "dear user" or "dear email address"
*Other things that red flag to me in the OP is:
"Due to this, to ensure that your service is not interrupted we request you to update your billing information now" (I dont think the first bit is good english and the update now also doesnt sound right.
and again the got to be updated within 48hrs also doesnt sound right

I had a phone call last week from a chap with an Indian accent claiming to be from AAMI, giving my name and asking for my rego no. He wouldn't say why he was calling. I refused saying that I don't know that you really are from AAMI. He said he'd send a letter.
I got the letter on Tuesday. The call was legit. It was about an accident I'd had on the 18th when I was driving my wife's car. I was reversing into a parking space and it unexpectedly accelerated up over the gutter and back into the car behind me. It hit hard but fortunately with little damage to either car.

I have no idea what/why it happened but it was bloody quick when the Forester's turbo spooled up! Yeah, I know, you're gunna say "Another old fart driver who hit the accelerator and not the brake".

"that we were unable to process your last payment of bill."
That ain't perfect, in fact it jars as unusual. last bill payment would be more likely.
Nearly all major mobs tell us that they will NEVER ask for account details or updates via email, and will NEVER ask us to log in via a link in said email. Emails that do ask for these things are 100% scam.

Nanocom, D2 TD5 only.
I have reported it to Scamwatch anyway.
I know there are many of you who have the nous to see the scam, but there are many who do not.
I have never been caught but this came close . I guess I saw it as legit because I double paid last month and thought maybe their computer had a glitch.
I have a friend who I regard as pretty intelligent and able having built a D Type replica from scratch, who fell for an encriptor.
There are quite a few old farts on this forum and my post is aimed at them.
