A man of the people, no airs & graces ,he called a spade a bloody shovel. And Australia adored him. Here is Daughter Anne's tribute to him and Joy;

I was in Charters towers a few years back and parked next to the Slim Dusty truck. The pics don't do it justice but it was a great tribute to the man.

Well, guys, this virus has been a wakeup call in more ways than one. Just being serious for a minute, when was the last time you told your special people you love them? Do it now. Here's a song to get you in the mood.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Very quiet , with the boarders closed , all the main fishing spots closed and the parks as well its like being on cyclone warning every day.

Be a very interesting dry season without the grey nomads , bet the truckies wont complain about the highways being a bit less congested.

Hope all is well down your way.

    Cheers Bulletman

I have fond memories of the Territory , we lived there for a few years, back in the 80's. All well here, or as well as can be expected. Qld had good news about our weekly infection rate, down below 1%, looking good. But we all know it could be a false dawn. No complacency here, but we will go with the flow. It's like the truckie whose fridge broke down , and beer got hot. No problems, we'll drink it Kimberley cool . Good luck, hope you get to the Daly first '

In primary school our teacher Mr Green was an ex-yorkshire rugby player.

Times tables had to be recited on demand. "Johnson. He yelled..9 times table now please "

I stumbled on 9x9. Out here he yelled..hold out your hands...palms up!

He then proceeded to wack me several times with a long thick ruler..to such an extent I could not hold a pencil for the rest of the day.

Wish I could have met him 20 years later....to get my own back😐

    What a b@#$%

The Yorkshire rugby side? he was obviously frustrated they wouldn't select him in the cricket side. A lot of good cricketers from Yorkshire.

I wish you could have too & given him a slap.

That was totally uncalled for & no way to teach kids their tables or anything else.
If it is any consolation I reckon most average kids always got that one wrong (9 x 9) It seems to be a bit of an awkward pair of Numbers (even tho' they are the same) that don't sit well together & if you have a bully trying to intimidate you it is even worse.

    Me too. 9x9=84 doesn't it?

Having buggered up your hand don't tell me he had another pop at you for not doing nice Cursive writing later in the day?

I reckon the Long thick Ruler was called a YARD STICK ie. It was a yard long & used on Blackboards & not to be confused as one that was taken into the school YARD to beat kids up with.
