    Where else but Queensland .....
Looking in the "Courier Mail", houses are still adverised as ##perches

tis exactly the thing i was told upon arriving in Qld and looking in some real estate offices, was confoosed by "perches", knew acres, hectares, and square metres or feet, but those pesky perches had me stuffed so asked a salesman "how big is a perch?" and got told the obvious answer,"depends on the size of your budgie"

    for the archives

this thread is rich in its knowledge of measurement
    just for completeness

    half a pube = 0.0365mm

    1 bees dick= 0.027 links

1 discotank =1200km (how many links is that)

how is 1/4 acre defined--the area of land required to turn around a series landrover in one go

    sfa = 0.0000000000000000001 chains

and of course we all know what 42 is.......... its how many mpg a tdi gets! (idling down hill)

    Chains

"My baby's got me wrapped up in chains" (but they aint the kind that you can see)
    Sorry, couldn't help it.

    22 yds = 1 chain
    10 chains = 1 furlong
    8 furlongs = 1 mile

And 42 is the answer to Life, The Universe and Everything.

I think the only appropriate people to answer some of these heady questions would be the dalai Lama.......or Peter Singer............or perhaps Billy Brownless
BTW I thought a skerrick was approximately 3 eighths of bees pube..and it s nice to see another '42' appreciator here. This is not the place however to discuss the numerological significance of '69'.
