The NDIS wants a vanity that a wheel chair can sit under, so our brand newly fitted vanity doesnt meet their specs. Looking on the net the UK disabled bathroom designs show safely ceramanic floor tiles, thick glass shower walls. all in all they look like a normal bathroom. Well we'll see what is allowed and within the budget .

AT RESTPedro, normal vinyl is butt joined and sealed with a liquid seam sealer, which is hard to see.
. Commercial safety vinyl is 2 metre wide and is hot Seam welded by meting a material into the seam and they stand out. look at any hospital corridor , reception waiting area.
you can have a solid single colour, there is a speckle or some thing in the design to break up refraction of light so fault /marks dont show through as would a plain colour. n ( i used to bein that industry in my younger days)
They are welded with a solid coloured filler. see pics. I can see them standing uo.

AT RESTWHOO HOO, Start my Neuro Physio this week then 2 - 3 sessions a week from there after. After attending my Doc for a physical exam and the news was not good, I am just on the edge of no return for my skeletal muscle wastage. Thee was a miscommunication between the NDIS and the Neuro Physio, otherwise I could of had this service quicker. So hopefully this is going to build them up again and get rid of the debilitating pain associated daily with it. ( Having had Kidney stones before, well this pain is up there with it. Morphine patches, endone and tramadol do nothing for it, only relief is laying flat on my back, but this is resulting in skeletal muscle wastage. so looking forward to this.
Friday we had meeting with OT as the disability equipment suppliers and organised a trial of some lift chairs, go measured up and listed the mods required, extra back height , special cushioning to prevent pressure sore, having the control made to suit me ( left handed). Having an extra motor fitted so more functions can me used and the motors upgraded t0 Heavy duty. Goo d to see they were Aussies made in Horsham and used quality Danish Linak motors. have a mate that works for Linak and he tells me they are top quality as far as actuators and motors for hospital beds etc go and parts are avail locally. Trialled some walkers for inside house use, making sure the height was ok for me and my weight.., so its all go gogo now

AT RESTJust got notified that a GPS emergency tracker pendant is on its way. So it I fall whilst somehow sneeking off from Heather or shes doiwn the shops it sends my location co ordinates to emergency numbers or 000 and does voice communications.

AT RESTYesterday we had the Lift people come and assess and measure up , the builder also in attendance also the OT. .
The bathroom will stay as it is except NDIS will pull up and replace the existing newly laid existing ceramic tile and replace them with slip resistant tiles. They will do a new wall tile where the shower is, I'll have to see if we can get some more tiles to match the other existing tiles as the other walls have tiles.We cant have a bath in there now so it need tiles for the wall behind that now. that will be at my expense as NDIS only funds mods required which is the shower. I'll have to replumb where the now obsolete bath out lets are.
The wheel chair company came also and brought me some electric wheel chairs as requested to suit me by my OT.
Chose one the is Australian made and more robust than the USA offering , The USA one had more bling and plastic but was not as comfortable nor easy to drive
The took lot of measurement whilst I sat in one and made adjustments here and there until i was positioned correctly and comfortable.. I did a few test runs up and down the gravel driveway, ( getting more aggressive tyres fitted as a mod to the centre drive wheels as I had wheel spin)
Then went for a run up and down the street and up and down hills and over driveways to cross the road. The joy stick was easy to master it
The LED control panel with sunlight on it made it hard to see the menu options. like tilt , raise up and down, park position and foot rest folding. So another mod requested is to have a push button control separately on the other am rest to make those functions stand alone and no need to use the LED screen to choose. Also a manual headlight switch for the LED lights so i don't have to fiddle with the led control panel.
Since these are too heavy and big to put into a car, I am going to be limited to trains , possible smart buses, those modified high rear roof disable taxis and neighbourhood trips. I don't particularly want to buy a people mover type vehicle for Heather to chauffeur me around, so my have to buy a portable manual wheel chair to leave in the back of her Mondeo
It's not going to fit into the L322 and I don't drive it any more, will have to cross that path when it happens. Oh and don't any one suggest a Defender either, I don't drive,
