Sorry 4Bee, not trying to have ago but by then (1987) the name was Department of Aviation adopted in 1982. It could have even been the Department of Transport and Communications. The part I was in is now called Airservices Australia. I had about 38 years in "DCA", mostly good times.

302Cs were available from XW (1968) to XC (1979), there was a lot of variation in carburation and firing over that period. Your engine may have come out of an XA, but did it start its life there? V8 conversions were popular with backyard hotrodders and workshops, alike. You will be able to determine the original source from the engine number.

Hello V8 Ian,

Can you please give me a hint where the engine number might be found on the 302? This is my first Ford motor, where should I start the hunt to find the right part of the engine to identify its number.

The carburettor is a 350 CFM 7448-1 two barrel Holley.

It's ok Peter, no offence taken.. I believe no matter when it had a Major name change it always seemed to be referred to as "The DCA" in conversation until it got it's posh name & then only by employees.

Besides, it rolled off the tongue more easily.

DoT&C was a bit of a tongue twister.

Hello Ian,

Thank you for the description to find the location of the engine number. I will go out when it stops raining here.

I had to stop play on wiring up my 2A's headlights and come inside. Perhaps, I should get one of those temporary marquees for shade and shelter? The current state of precipitation has put a bit of a dampener on things - including my tools.
