The Landy Game, great for kids ;-)

    Hi All,

Here is a game, fun for young and old ( or should I say pleasantly mature ), it can be played by all members of the family, and best of all it is free. The name of the game is to spot a Landy, kids will have hours of enjoyment, especially on those long treks. Like with mine on our drives from GC to Brisbane when I have them . So this is how it goes, pretty simple really, but there are rules...................

Firstly it is best to play on longer journeys, a trip down to the shops may not be as much fun, but the object is to spot as many landies as possible and then add up the points to see who wins.

    The Point System

    • D3, RRS, RR Vogue score 3 points ( because they are "rare")
    • Defenders score 2 points as they can be also scarce.
    • Early Series models also score 2 points due to scarcity.
    • Discoveries- D1-D2's score 1 point as they are quite numerous.
    • Freelanders get 1 point, just because I said so and Outlaw made me realise I forgot to add them
    Extra Points

An extra point can be attainted by the following:

    • Pointing out modifications- snorkel, bull bar, winch, racks, lift
    • Determining exact model ie Defender 110 Dual Cab, Discovery TD6, D1, D2 etc
    Minus Points
    • Mistaken Identity loses a point as in calling out "Fender" when in fact a Toyota FJ series, or Pajero instead of a D3. Mistaken Identity can also be accompanied with a clip across the ears for blasphemy ( son learnt that when he yelled D3 and it was a Cruiser, how dare he )
So start playing today, I know I love to win and beat the kids

    Regards

    Stevo

P.S. Also dont let smart alecs play, like the missus who thought it was funny to yell out things like.....truck.....car..........taxi.....bus. Theres always one in the crowd

See what I have to put up with, missus thought it would be funny to email me this:

"Wow, you must be so busy 'at work' you poor thing.....
Must of taken so much effort to come up with the 'spot the landy game'
Keep up the hard work baby, I know how stressful your job is ...."

And that is why she isnt allowed to play the game

Hey you've done well... haven't included Freelanders in your game... do you lose points for calling them as well?

BTW, been playing it for years but the scoring on our game is much simpler

Everything is worth one point except D3's (2 pts) cause they WERE uncommon.

But if you miss call something in the distance you loose a point. Should have read all they way down your post.

I used to love seeing an Army convoy when we were out and about.

My missus gets very competitive about it

Had an interesting incident on the way down to the bus stop with my grandchildren this morning - spotted my next door neighbour (who is my nephew) on his way out to muster his wethers for crutching.

Miss Seven "Look Nikki, there's Spotty!" (Spotty is next door's dog)

    Miss Five "Where?"

Miss Seven "There, in the back of the Yellow Landrover!"

    - said yellow Landrover is actually a Hilux!

It is noticeable that there are no other Landrover owners close by - one of the school bus drivers is, but I don't know of any others within 20km, but it seems that at least my grandchildren have the right generic name for four wheel drives.

More emails from the Missus, reckon she might figure out not a good idea to send in written format

    "Very funny!
Dont ya like me snooping???? I like to keep an eye on what you are saying. Lets me have at least a little communication with you, seeing as you dont talk to me at night as you have used all your words on AULRO throughout the day!!! "

Im guessing Im not the only one who gets that . Well bout to head off to Brissie to collect the youngins so a Landy Spotting we will go. Feel free to add any rules or stipulations, could end up a board game.....of course I would split the profits
