Correct. And no wonder it looks a bit like a Ford - Simca bought the Vedette factory plus product line from French Ford. It was essentially a Mk II Zephyr only fitted with a flathead V8 instead of a six. When Simca took it on they dropped the bigger V8, and upped the power of the V60 by fitting higher compression alloy heads. This reduced the weight on the front wheels, improving the handling. Brakes were improved by going to 15" wheels with lower profile tyres, allowing the drum brakes to go to 11", which in turn allowed the lower suspension pivot to move further out.
They were assembled in Adelaide by Chrysler in the late fifties, replaced by the Valiant about 1961.

My boss at Moree Satellite Earth Station in 1968 had one. It blew a head gasket so myself (I was still a trainee radio technician) and one of the Plant Officers were assigned the job of fixing it. We unbolted the heads (flathead V8) but they wouldn't come off. In the end, we started it up with the head bolts fitted but loose so that if the heads came free, they'd be restrained. The blasted things still wouldn't come loose. So we had to belt them with a small sledge hammer whilst running the engine.
I think the heads were alloy but I can't be sure.

My brother did rings and bearings on my father's one, but I don't recall him having any problems with getting the heads off - possibly becasue it had been dealer maintained from new.
But a school friend of mine inherited his grandfather's '34 Ford with alloy heads - and he claimed (possibly with some exaggeration) that he drove it round for a week with no headbolts installed when he did an engine overhaul.
