Spoke with a local cop who confirmed that many nose to tail collisions occur when they are doing roadside activities...he said basically from someone rubber necking...slowing down too quickly or even stopping completely. Same for roadworks and workers who unfortunately suffer from the same stupidity.
You see the same unawareness in shops where a person will be completely unaware of the massive line forming behind them as they chat to the check out person or fiddle for cards or coins.
Just humsn nature I guess😐
True, it's not ideal, but it's much better than a single lane in each direction, with opposing traffic going at 100 and merely separated by a strip of paint, and no roadside runoff area, like much of the country's roads.Quote:
