You need to tell our pilots that. All of our combat aircraft are capable of landing and taking off, from aircraft carriers.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

I don't think I'd like to be a Debt Collector & insist they cough up. I suspect I'd be making many trips to Beijing & coming away with promises or "the accountant/husband/bank etc has got our Cheque Book but it will be in the post shortly" & nothing else.

Unless they are up to no good (really?) The request from all the affected countries is most reasonable to find & eliminate the cause, but another "Toy" the may play with, may indeed backfire on them & wipe every one out so where is the gain for China? To my feeble & simple mind there will be no "Winner".

I think this is the thread to which dear old Des refers, he's just a bit slow out of the blocks today.

Sorry, chaps, but you are right Ian. I woke up feeling **** this morning & no I didn't have my finger up me bum before you ask. Hoping it ain't C-19.

It wasn't the only ****ter I made. Who noticed the other one? Anybody? Hello, anyone out there?

Yes rb, so just goes to prove that I am not perfect after all. Sorry to disappoint. It can happen when threads on here go back & forth at the speed of light.

Not all combat aircraft Ian. Too many try the water mate. Our nice Helicopter carriers "Canberra-class landing helicopter dock ships" look like HMS invincible. We just about brought her. I had a nifty tour on both Invicable in Perth in the 1980s the New Adelaide last year. Yes almost all could in theory land on her. I am certain she could also launch a small submarine as her backside can sink to launch some very cool things.

Back to the first post by ramblingboy42 A nice South Oz ex submariner is on the same page as you. Rex Patrick is feral on the topic now he has jumped out of Isolation.

Not sure we can tell the frogs to hop off. We like the Kooky sods to much. Such a cool accent. Love to see the Deals contract people asking for a pay rise- My Bad- they got one today!

    RE jspyle- Why
I think they are the best self defense tool we have PLUS. You have to be nuts to put a surface ship anywhere a submarine could possibly be. We are a very very big island then again the mostly shallow waters to our north are not perfect for subs.

My bet is by the time the future subs arrive we may be ripping the noisy diesel out for a quiet nifty fuel cell or refitting them quickly at a huge cost

Seriously now, I read recently that the French torpedoes are the best in the World.
Whether we buy them or Yank stuff I do not know.
Whether they will still be the best by the time we get the subs who knows.
    Regards PhilipA

I loved our DDGs. do note the americans sold us some junks more than once just to point out not everything American is as cools as my now Dive Wreak.
The torps "maximum speed beyond 50 knots and endurance around 1 hour without compromising safety." Nifty that's one long range bit of kit! run time*speed gives it a possible range of 100odd km. Noting of course targets move a long way in one hour
