Isn't it possible that after firing they will home back to Southern France where they will sell it back to us after a quick paint job?

Sub Skipper. "Bugger, another Froggy dud".

Maybe by that time Torps will be extinct, & they will use the modified EETTS Method the ( Exhaust Ejection to the Surface) method & vent the galley exhaust of Pan Fried Chicken in Beurre with a little white wine sauce & Tart Tatin to follow served with a nice cheeky Muscadet. While their ships gather around, Demo Divers could clamp mines to their ships just to **** their day up...

    That's a good idea eh?

That would tend to gather the enemy around for a close encounter of the worst kind.

The torps "maximum speed beyond 50 knots and endurance around 1 hour without compromising safety." Nifty that's one long range bit of kit! run time*speed gives it a possible range of 100odd km. Noting of course targets move a long way in one hour

Captain George Ericson & his #1 in HMS Saltash Castle would still have you by the nuts despite all that malarkey.

Such a good book. Must track my copy down to re-read since we're in isolation.

I'm working with an EXCELLENT boss at the moment and hoping not to have to move (various reasons). I keep coming back to the bit in the bar after Compass Rose has been sunk when Ericson has been told of his new command and Lockhart effectively turns down his own command in order to stay with Ericsion. 'Why break up a good team.'

*technicality. In the book (the fictional) HMS Saltash was a River Class frigate. In the movie a Castle class frigate was renamed Saltash Castle for the movie.

Apparently there is no such Castle either. I suppose it sounds better than "Popeye's River Cruise Launch".

OMFG! You haven't loaned the book have you? That's the last you will see of that then. You lend it to a friend on the understanding he/she will hand it back Right?

A friend of a friend notices it the book shelf or on the Coffee Table & gives a promise they will hand it back & so it goes on & on & on, adinfinitum.

People only nick really good books so it says something for our tastes I suppose.

Don't even ask me about the brand spanking new copy of the Lancaster. Brand new! I thought I was doing an ex-Lanc aircrew bloke a favour.

All I got to do was flick through a few pages.

    Have never found another copy.

These days I never lend a book, not even to family.

who was the wise owl who said " neither a borrower nor a lender be "?

I know it referred to money but , books , spanners , drills etc never seem to come back.

I dunno what this has to do with subs though.

Everything. You will find all the above on a Sub. I suppose you could have included Blue Tack for bunging up leaks.

That would be Polonius in Shakespeare's Hamlet, advising not to have financial dealings with friends, which is excellent advice I wish I had always followed.
