Mate, just before this virus shut everything down, I took this little jigger round the block.

Brissie-'Curry-Alice-Mt Gambier-home, T610, it's a bit small on the outside and shy of a bar and lights but the wider cab is a big improvement on the almost centre steer, old cabs. I can stand up in it!
Still can't beat a Western Star.

    More my style.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Well, if I've embarrassed Ian I can go to my grave fulfilled. He deserves every iota of it. Did I mention we've crossed swords? Let him be embarrassed.

Gentleman? Well, of course he is. Billy wouldn't like hime else. Neither would I.

    Wrong truck? Really, as if!
Western Star is to the transport industry what Land Rover is to the off road pastime or Rolls Royce is to upmarket motoring.
Yep. That's why Toyota rules the of road market and BMW, the owners of Rolls Royce, rule the prestige market. And Scania and Volvo are beginning to dominate the long haul and mining market... But hey, I love waffles. I'll even put maple syrup on them to appease the North American market.

HaHa. That was the name of the town as well as the dam.

It was an experience though. When we arrived we could step across the river on the stones. IIRC this was the Brisbane River, upstream of when it merged with the Stanley, but don't quote me. Wivenhoe was not even in construction really then. Then one night it rained. They got 8" in Melaney in 11 hours. The catchment was up and around Jimna etc. The lake ( if you've been there....., Kilcoy was in trouble ) was rising at a speed that I, as a Vic, simply could not understand. The river I could step over was a raging torrent the width of a freeway. The noise was incredible. The power of it still resonates, 40 years later. We lived in the first house, nearest the wall, closest to the river. We never forgot. I never will.

Soggy? Not once. Damp, sure, at the right time. Nervous? All the ****ing time. But they built that wall at a time when everything mattered. We got frogs, snakes, bandicoots all sheltering in our house. We didn't have time or energy to evict them. The dogs were not pleased. But I LOVED it. And at the right time we could waterski.

BTW, I DID get the joke. But living there was an experience.

Oh, come on!! Ian is a grown man, contrary to what you might hear. He and I have been sparing over trucks ever since he rashly criticised my truck in a "Where am I" post. I will point you to the kind of truck he prefers ( )

Well good on you for rescuing those creatures like Operation Noah Operation Noah (Kariba) - Wikipedia

    "Operation Noah
was a wildlife rescue operation on the
    Zambezi
    River, (then in
    Rhodesia
    , now the border between
    Zambia
    and
    Zimbabwe
) lasting from 1958 to 1964. In the late 1950s, North and South Rhodesia (present-day Zambia and Zimbabwe) constructed the
    Kariba Dam
    hydroelectric power station across the
    Zambezi
    River, at the
    Kariba Gorge
, about 400 km from Victoria Falls. The Kariba Dam mostly provided electric power to both countries, created
    Lake Kariba
, the world's largest man-made lake, and flooded the Kariba Gorge - home to thousands of native animals and the local
    Tonga people
. In a wildlife rescue operation lasting 5 years, over 6000 animals were rescued and relocated to the mainland."

They don't work for me either so I'll use my imagination V8Ian, and others.
I love those trucks posted further up (ones with bonnets and sleeper cabs are my fave trucks)
My truck was a baby truck, 1968 Dodge truck. Sold it years ago because I couldn't drive it anymore. Since located it living in Kangaroo Island. I am now not sure if it survived the fires there, I hope it did V8Ian, and others.

Here's an in video game truck that also has guns to shoot bad guys with V8Ian, and others. my favourite vehicle in the game V8Ian, and others.

Rescuing?? I didn't care about them, any more than they cared about me. None of us wanted to drown is all. Try not to read too much into it.
