    Anyone Near Gracemere in Queensland?

    Hello All,

Is the Pickapart Auto Wreckers on 5 Langley Road Gracemere still opened for business? It is the auto wreckers that specialised in older vehicles around the 1970s and earlier. It still kept the era of vehicles that most other places have scrapped years ago.

It was the only wreckers where I have ever had to pay an entry fee to go into so I could have a browse too! That was about four years ago.

    Kind regards
    Lionel

I have sent a message to a local in Gracemere.

I grew up just down the road from the wreckers.

Upto the OP i guess, google indicates pick a part no longer exists and the owners website doesn’t respond. And I happen to know a local therefore choose sending a message over searching white pages.

    Hello W & KO,

That is correct - Google Map says "Permanently Closed" and there are no responses to their contacts. I figured a local angle could be the way to go to find out more about the business. Just because Google "says" does not rule out the possibility of alternate "local" approaches being available.

It would be a damn shame if they are closed for good. I also searched for an old mixed car and truck wreckers that was just off the main road at Aratula. Looking via Google Maps it seems that the area is now covered in houses.

I am after a second-hand torque convertor for a XA 1972 Ford attached to 302 Cleveland V8 that was formerly fitted to my D-Series 1973 International 1210 van. Also parts for the van. Some of the older country wreckers could be a good source.

Yes - I will be going to Price's Trucks in Dalby once we can freely move around Queensland again.

    Kind regards
    Lionel

There're not that many "locals" in Gracemere.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

    Hello Ian,

Yes - it is very similar to Calliope now! Not so many years ago there was a big buffer of trees and scrub between the Bruce Highway and the first house. The first house was a farm house. Then suddenly there was a property development and there are hectares of houses cheek to jowl located only a stone's throw from the highway.

    Kind regards
    Lionel

Hopefully a drive by happening today, sounds like there may have been a fire has gone through the yard.
