Thread: Road Rage/Harassment - No Point Complaining

In my work vehicle, I just let everyone else do what they want and let it go. Have a dash cam running in case something happens though. In the 101 I never get road raged, no matter how slow I go or what I'm doing - can't work out why....

Really, I don't think this is an issue. The "bad guys" in australia only tend to shoot each other. guns really aren't a problem from what I can tell. Lack of guns in the general population was one of the best things that has ever happened in this country!

Honestly think the BULL BAR is badass and scares everyone idea is a bit funny. Nudging someone from the rear cost you money with very few legal exceptions.

The road rage shove on front of you to intimidate you or wind you up is a job for the police. While the police in Garry's case the police chose not to, fairly sure they could have found a issue or two had they been inclined to.

Mia Culpa A car clipped my bull bar just once and he was doing what happened to Gary. He had dash cam and stupidly he went to the police. Showed him breaking about ten plus road rules in his road rage event. No bar on my current disco as it was honestly their for roos, deer or wayward farm animals not for traffic

Police are busy so forcing them to do the job you or I assume they should do can be a bit of a PITA for them or us I have now do that twice. Once for my stolen push bike and another over a Feb/state phone extortion attempt. The police have forgiven me I hope. The criminal got busted over my bike.

With the benefit of hindsight I had a think last night how I could have handled things better, noting when I was on the wrong side of the road ongoing traffic had to move off the road to avoid a head on.

These bogans are more interested in the chase and the reactions of their "prey".

When the guy pulled in front and started brake checking me and coming to a stop - I should have just also stopped (not pulled out) and switched on the hazards and waited. Turned up the radio and maybe called the cops on their 13*** number and then waited - I am sure their patience would have run out in a minute or so. On that piece of road it would have been safe and would not have given the bogans any satisfaction in getting a greater response from me. Of course if they got out it might have got interesting.

I also thought about whether I should have turned around and then followed them for a while but then dismissed that as a silly idea.

I was a little disappointed in the cops - other than the others rego number did not record anything - not my details and anything else. Also surprised there is no road rage offence in the ACT.

Absolutely that would have been the best thing to do, pull over, stop, lock the car and call the cops. If they stopped also, then say to the Police I think they are going to attack me and my family.

At a party a couple of years ago, I advised some younger female relatives that if they ever came across dingalings like this and they were being harassed and couldn’t get away, to drive to the nearest police station. A friend of theirs who attended the party remembered my advice early this year after they encountered a couple of drugged up idiots and did precisely that. The morons who had been brake checking them and then harassing them pulled in behind them into the police parking lot, not realising where they were. Oops...

And have them kicking the car in trying to get inside with your wife and kids there (cars are NOT that hard to get into if your willing to smash them).... Not on your life. Demolition derby it is .... You know how people freeze and panic ... and do nothing. Weirdly I've found I'm the opposite to that if the **** hits the fan (which I don't quite understand, I'm always the quiet nerd in the corner of the room in there is a group of people around.. and have never picked a fight in my life). I figure most people must be like this ... Push them hard enough, and they'll push back about 100 times harder... with extreme violence that will frighten even the most flipped out crazy around.

I have a couple of mates like this. Gentlest people in the world, but if you threatened them or there family, you would literally have to kill them (no exaggeration) to stop them once they popped there top. You can see there eyes glaze over as the brain shuts down and the fight (not flight) mode kicks in. It would have to be pretty rare person that freezes or runs ?

you are allowed to use the "minimum restraintive force" if a road rager approaches you.

in my case I have an assistant alongside my seat.

what is that driver? oh that? thats my jack extension handle , it wont fit behind the seat with the rest of the jacking gear officer.

why did you hit him with it? I didn't intend to, I just grabbed the nearest thing I could to defend myself......
