In the early 80's a semi with a full load of alcoholic beverages went over on the sweeping curve coming into Proserpine, from the South.
Quite a lot of the unbroken survivors were not able to be accounted for, after the cleanup!
In fact, it was quite surprising as to how many cartons did survive! Oh, so I was told.![]()

plenty of beef here recently.....QUEENSLANDER.....
a semi lost its load of tinned beer near the NT brewery in 1975.
it was cleaned up with a bobcat and loaded into a tipper but broke down and was pushed into the brewery warehouse.
over the next few weeks the tipper remained in the warehouse awaiting repair and I dont think there were any cans left in the tray by then
That story reminds me of the old British Fillum of "Whisky Galore" where an old steam coaster ran aground in Scotland with 50,000 cases of Whisky on board, 1949 I think it was. Bottles of Scotch being washed up along the coast but not too many were located it seems.

In the early 60's a mate was driving city delivery for Bulimba Brewery. He took the off camber turn from Wharf St. into Adelaide St. a bit quick and the old Inter laid in its side. Many cartons of bottled beer on the road, broken and unbroken. Bobby said he knew where six cartons went. Straight into the boot of the police car that turned up.

Years ago, I think it was Ron Taylor, had a tv show, in which he would film different dive sites. I remember one episode where he found an old bottle of Scotch in the wreck of a ship, which had Scotch as part of its cargo, near Nth. Straddie.
From memory, the ship sank in the late 1800s and Ron (?) said, on tasting the Scotch, that it was a lovely drop.

Well i hope they know what they are doing, unlike the two young Cops i saw early last Saturday morning, just off Compton road,Stretton trying to euthanise an injured wallaby.
After six shots from a.40 Glock, the job was still not done
The two of them had absolutely no ****ing idea.
How the **** does Q Pol expect 'em to plug members of the public with crap sub standard training like that?
They should have been ashamed of themselves.
I hope the Wallaby didn't suffer too much at the hands of fools.
Wait until they front up to Sarge to explain & account for the waste of expended Ammo, he'll probably give them a decent kick in the 'nads to remember him by & take their toy car away from them for a couple of months..
