Probably out of time by now. There is a time frame to appeal. You would have got the details of how to appeal in the letter advising you of the cancellation. As always, read the fine print.
First step is to ask the decision maker to reconsider their decision. If they won't change their decision they have to explain why then they have to tell you how to appeal further.
Next step is to further your appeal to an Area Review Officer. Same as first step.
Next is an appeal to the Social Security Appeals Tribunal. Not happy? Then next step.
Administrative Appeals Tribunal who sometimes give strange decisions but normally strictly apply the legislation.
Last step is to the Federal Court. Got plenty of money to throw at wigs? The Federal Court only considers matters of law.

The main part of the system was always in Canberra with additional sections in Area Offices. Canberra was supposed to be highly secured and the Dept has for decades been obsessed with client privacy. Staff have been fined, jailed, sacked, reduced in rank, or salary reduced for a period for breaches of privacy.
Shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union DSS sold a welfare system to one of the 'stans in Central Asia who had to set up an entire welfare system as Russia ran the old one and shut it down. An intriguing outcome of the sale was the stand alone appeals system. This function had to be explained to the Asian delegates who simply could not accept us allowing the citizenry to appeal government decisions. Not in their country. There the government makes the decisions and there is no right of appeal. They didn't buy this part.
