    Met another Member.

I had a visitor today, GUMNUT or Andy & his very nice other half Toni.
They dropped in at the Roadhouse for a half hour or so to say "Gooday" & have a chat.
A very nice couple with a nice fully loaded D4.
Somehow didn't even cost me a coffee.

I was up your way a couple of weeks ago. Travelled from Burketown to Gregory when I overnighted down on the river near the old bridge and then on to Cloncurry the next day. The roads have come a long way since I was last up that way. The Gregory pub is still the same and still has the fan in the bar that took out Scratchy Parker (a local ringer) some years ago when he jumped up on the bar during a fight.
    Cheers......Brian

When I was working & traveling all over Qld I would take the membership list for the Rover Car Club Qld with me & if I had time would call in & see members who we in Brisbane would never see. They were always happy to catch with members they had read about in club mag & find out what was going on within the club. It was also a plus for me that I got to see there restoration or vehicle.

I'm pretty sure the coffee machine was broken at that time.
Or I was just forgetful & rude.

Is it warm up there in August?

Doesn't look like I'm going to make my bi-annual trip to SA desert country.

I been sitting home too long and might just do a push up north for some fun.

It's quite difficult to catch up to others when you have itinerary to meet.

I have gone close to Tombie about 30 times without being in a situation to call in.

So a planned trip to Doomagie might not be out the question.

    Depends what you consider warm?
August daytime temps are about 24 - 30, night time mid to high teens or a bit above.
If we get a strong Westerly then 3-5 cooler.
So I don't cosider that warm, especially at night.
Just a reminder, further inland gets bloody cold, Cloncurry, Mt Isa get down into single figures.

It's a damned long way to go for a mug of International Roast or Caterers Blend, because the coffee machine's broken down: free or otherwise. Fortunately, the Manager and his kids could mitigate the disappointing beverage.
