Prado all the way IMO. Pathfinders can be troublesome - Neighbor had a 2012 Pathfinder, he has many tales of woe about it - He bought a Jeep after that as he wanted something more reliable- the Jeep did a gudgen pin the other week (after 5 years - was second hand but it's only got 210KKM on it - so he's just bought a new Pajaro Sport. 3rd time lucky for him I hope.

Another low K Pajero would be a smart option - cheaper than Prado, reliable and well sorted and competent for those requirements espexially if any offloading is limited to the beach and lighter State Forests and Forestry trails etc. Otherwise Prado auto would be a good choice I reckon.
Cheers
Can't speak about a Prado as I have never driven 1 but,
We bought a demonstrator 2008 Pathfinder diesel manual in late 2008.
We didn't like it.
Didn't seem to produce the stated power or torque, front passenger seat folds forward which made the seat uncomfortable when used for long trips. The car is fairly small with 7 people in it. It towed our HD off road trailer OK but 1 had to row the gears. When sitting in the sun the rear tail gate locks/handles caused burns to SWMBO hand, they are black. I did some mud running in it & it went ok but they are a bit low. The fit & finish was ordinary. Stereo failed to work twice. Floor coverings lifted. The steering wheel is small for a 4WD. The whole car became uncomfortable on 7 or more hour trips. We had a Hyundai Terracan before that & it was without a doubt a better car all round.
We traded it on the D3 - chalk & cheese & I mean good cheese & bad chalk.

A couple of years ago my daughter and son-in law were looking for a second hand Prado.
After several months they gave up because every one they found had well above average kilometres on the odometer. There didn't seem to be such a thing as a low km or even an average km one available.

I met someone recently who was under the bonnet of a D40 (same thing as pathfinder i believe?). He was replacing the alternator after the previous one threw the clutch off. He told me his D40 was the worst car he had ever owned. He bought it from new and had experienced problems with almost all aspects of the vehicle. Couldn't wait to sell it. Turned out he was a mechanic, so he knew what he was talking about. Perhaps he just had a lemon?
My mate owned a pathfinder of the same shape. He loved it and kept telling me how i should 'upgrade' from the 110 to a pathy. That was until it went bang twice on two consecutive family holidays and had to be flatbedded both times. Cost him almost $10,000 in repairs. Sold it and got an Amorak.
