That is strange as I recently had a missed delivery card that didn't have the "ID Required" box ticked, but when I went to the Post Office they asked for ID, when I queried it they said all parcels need ID.

When I go to the post office, they very rarely ask for ID, (I can't remember the last time I had to show ID) or signature, the same with the postman. Think it depends on sender if they request signature. I did get a delivery the other day & they took a photo of me holding the package, that has never happened before.
After 38 years collecting stuff from the local PO, they don’t ask me for ID.
A while ago Australia Post's poor service was a topic on talk back radio. A person rang up to relate his experience.
This is his story. He owns a one person hairdressing salon, with him being the sole worker.
When ever he buys on line he gets items delivered to his salon, as he is there during business hours.
On one occasion he was working when the AP person came in and handed him the "we tried to deliver your parcel but no one was home, so we took it to the post office" card.
Can you believe that. They actually handed him that!
To say he was ****ed off was an understatement. He has to close his shop and do a one hour round trip to the post office.
When he gets there they wanted ID. His only ID was his drivers licence which had his home address.
As this did not match the address that the parcel was consigned to, they would not hand it over.
OMG.
We must be the odds ones….
Never really had an issue with AP….
We’re we are currently it’s 200km to the local post office…..
The entire town where the post office is has to collect their mail from the post office, yep nobody has letter boxes in front of their house. Population of 18,000
Anyways…..everybody on-site uses the one PO Box, mailman comes 3 times per week…..
Given we are remote timeframes can be a little slow and the app delivery time and parcel location can be a little deceiving but in saying that we’ve been happy with the service.
Of course, there are POs and POs. AP run maybe 70% of them, and the rest are LPOs, licensed. Those latter ones have reduced services, like no passports etc, but they are owned by local business people who generally want the PO to attract customers to the other side of the business, like a general store or something. They tend to try harder. Th others are AP employees, with whatever that implies.
