    Roof Rack Alloy or Steel

    My son is after a rack for his D2. He has found a SH rack that to me seems like a good price.

    It is however alloy. I can see the weight benefit with alloy. Are alloy roof racks ok?

    I have only ever had steel racks so I don't have any personal experience.

    Depends what he plans to carry on it and over what sort of terrain, if he needs the full roof weight capacity he will need an alloy rack.
