Why did it come from Canada?

I know a couple of people who build and install small lifts here.....they would never make a mistake like that.

The long awaited lift arrived from Canada and is expected to be installed this Wednesday. The builders did the well and slab and path weeks ago.

I don't know why but last night l was going over the paper work and saw the lift unit dimensions and something rang alarm bells. The inside dimensions of the platform is 1240mm x 914mm, I thought my chair is longer than that. so today I measured it and LOA from back wheel to tip of my toe seated is 1400mm. the lift as physio is 1400mm and my toes skid on the ride up so l have to tuck them in.

the lift and chair was originally speced by my old OT who we got rid off because of problems and got a new OT supposedly on the ball and highly recommended. She took over and signed off on the orders.

So now it looks like a major stuff up from the experts who are paid to do this on my behalf has occurred. $35K of something l cant use. Awaiting to here back now.

    example what lift looks like

But look on the bright side, Mario. That looks a handy size. About 40 wine casks? Some people we know casually, had a Stair Glider installed & it seems the only use it gets is to carry the weekly booze supply (Casks, Slabs etc etc) up from the car park to the inside of their joint.
I suppose that cost a motza but they paid for it out of their own savings so not a drain on the Public Purse.

Don't know, possibly that we don't manufacture anything here any more.
You would think being a Federal Govt dept, the NDIS would insist that the Australian tax payer monies were spent on Australian products first, but since we don't manufacture any thing here anymore hence things are purchased elsewhere.

my wheelchair Assembled here in Australia, maybe some of it made here, but some from O/S components.
    my toilet/ shower commode USA
my ceiling hoist in bedroom USA
my pressure care mattress and pump Sweden
little aids , odds & sods China
    epedema pump have to check.

At least the wheel chair hoist at Patterson River was assembled/made here. Get the feeling fit is made for people smaller than us Mario?

When OS in several countries I found chairs fit my waste yet my height/legs struggled to fit. Door heights in some of our North North West neighbors had me ducking. Burke's back yard years ago had the host looking at some Roman Armour with the comment even he would struggle to fit in it.

There are very good engineering firms here in Aust. They are usually very busy and not as flexible for our wants at a retail level. As mentioned my great grandad would have been able to help. Long gone of course. Just found a post you might like. Old school OZ

Hang on, I'm a bit flummoxed here.

Does that mean you were born with a Willy, on a British Tractor?

Kelly Ferguson. World's greatest underwater swimmer bar none. Sounds plausible, but not very, I know.

    Phewwwwww.

received an email this arvo from lift company confirming what l already knew, chair wont fit the lift.( l knew year 11 maths would come in handy some day) They are going to work out a quote on a large platform and cabin to represent to the ndis. if approved it will take 4 -6 weeks to air freight it.
