Well today the painters came back and has finish painting the bathroom, and the 4 new doors and the arcs that had to be widen. Now the house smells of paint, which I don't cope well with paint smell. So I hope to hear from the lift company if they are still going to install the outside lift next week, with the lock down we have in Vic? Heather

FWIW Heather, cutting some onions up & dropping those into a dish of water is supposed to lessen the paint pong.

Always assuming you are not bothered by the onion smell of course. Oil based enamels are the worst or so I am told by a power well above my simple one. No names, no Pack Drill.

    Hope this helps.

I read a hilarious story today about a bloke who was asked by an independent assessor to prove that his amputated arms could not be re-attached to qualify for the NDIS.
Another bloke in a wheelchair had to produce multiple reports to prove his legs had been amputated at the knees. I mean, couldn't the independent assessor just take a look, or even a photo on his phone?
    Seriously?
Can't post the stories without being accused of being political.

    Hi,
Me thinks it ironic that perhaps staff from the disabled community would be more able to do the job.
    Cheers

Or accepting reports from peoples' actual doctors, instead of rejecting them and relying on other people who don't even know them. Those independent assessors then classify those they interview into 40 categories, so they are putting people into arbitrary boxes.

That is the problem we had with NDIS last year, the person that kept knocking us back didn't know us, she was just putting us in the bag with everyone else. They are an insurance company and they are there to save money where they can, which has a knock on affect to the genuine people that need there help to live a life that they deserve. Heather

You would reasonably assume there would be a requirement for the "Case Manager" to get out of their pleasant A/C office & away from the Coffee Machine to physically meet their charges. IMHO, it should & can make a difference.

I read the National Disability Commissioner, whose name I forget, participated in a trial of independent assessment - and was rejected! My nightmare with the NDIS process.

ifb they want to save money then look at the costs charged by providers. paint 4 new doors and prep /paint
architraves around door frame only, paint bathroom ceiling, window archis and door frame, pain section of wall 600mm above wall tiles nearly $4500! I must be out of touch what people earn these days

I knew it was going too smoothly

Well I thought things were going to smoothly!
The long awaited lift arrived from Canada and is expected to be installed this Wednesday. The builders did the well and slab and path weeks ago.

I don't know why but last night l was going over the paper work and saw the lift unit dimensions and something rang alarm bells. The inside dimensions of the platform is 1240mm x 914mm, I thought my chair is longer than that. so today I measured it and LOA from back wheel to tip of my toe seated is 1400mm. the lift as physio is 1400mm and my toes skid on the ride up so l have to tuck them in.

the lift and chair was originally speced by my old OT who we got rid off because of problems and got a new OT supposedly on the ball and highly recommended. She took over and signed off on the orders.

So now it looks like a major stuff up from the experts who are paid to do this on my behalf has occurred. $35K of something l cant use. Awaiting to here back now.

    example what lift looks like
