Thanks ND. This was a lot of fun.
There's material here that I could utilise when next talking to a certain, pompous, young academic who I am acquainted with.

Child's life-threatening choke: Teacher saves pupil with Heimlich maneuver- NOT

First aid course last week chatted about choking of course. One of the people there had saved a child TWICE.
    Not with the "Heimlich maneuver"

    The
Science says its not helpful yet lots still think it is!

"Surprisingly, despite the widespread belief that the Heimlich maneuver is the scientifically-affirmed treatment of choice for choking victims, there is only anecdotal evidence for its effectiveness as well as its dangers and there is no scientific consensus on the best approach to a person who is choking or has foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO)." link

The Australian First aid for helping with choking is now
1-Call 000 ( preferably get some one else to do that while you do step 2)
2- Deliver up to 5 back blows using the heel of one hand between the shoulder blades.
3- If unsuccessful, perform up to 5 chest thrusts. Push heel of the hand into the lower part of the breastbone, supporting the back during each thrust.
    4-
Check after each thrust to see if the blockage is dislodged!

Start at step 2 again if still choking!

Hope of course you never need this cool
    science.

Poms showing what to do but MISSED step ONE!!

Lucas Hights and Silex Bravo Zulu

Not sure how I missed this amazing break through by our very cool nuclear scientist (yet again!!!)

"Lu-177 underpins a revolutionary therapy for late-stage cancers called targeted beta therapy, and is already approved for use with prostate cancer patients in the US, UK and Europe. Clinical trials for the treatment of several other cancers, including breast, neuroendocrine, melanoma and thyroid, are ongoing around the world, with more approvals anticipated to follow."

The Medical Isotope Separation Technology (MIST) Project is another Australian nuclear invention to help save lives!

Note Proof of concept is a long way from helping today- Medical Isotope Technology is a life saver

Your all the same why we are not the same is the Prize today

Did you know all of your cells contain the same genetic information, yet they behave differently?

This cannot be in trivia I thought the AI tool prediction exactly what a specific protein might get it. Next year perhaps?

    "DeepMind’s AlphaFold2"

This is big! How big we will see soon with new better faster medication quickly!!!!!!!

"Nobel Prize in Chemistry Is Awarded to 3 Scientists for Work With Proteins

Demis Hassabis and John M. Jumper were part of a Google team that developed A.I. technology to predict the shape of proteins. David Baker designed “a new protein that was unlike any other,” the committee said"

Its AI driven prediction exactly what unknown proteins look like and it works. It is bigger than big really though many like me have little idea how big

    MIT view

"By the end of 2020, DeepMind, the UK-based artificial-intelligence lab, had already produced many impressive achievements in AI. Still, when the group’s program for predicting protein folding was released in November of that year, biologists were shocked by how well it worked. Nearly everything your body does, it does with proteins. Understanding what individual proteins do is therefore crucial for most drug development and for understanding many diseases. And what a protein does is determined by its three-dimensional shape.
A protein is made up of a ribbon of amino acids, which folds up into a knot of complex twists and twirls. Determining that shape—and thus the protein’s function—can take months in a lab. For years, scientists have tried computerized prediction methods to make the process easier. But no technique ever came close to matching the accuracy achieved by humans."

    Food

Just did a healthy eating quizz
Quick, Cheap & Easy Healthy Meal Ideas | No Money No Time

Excellent in Fruit, Veggies, Meat grains and just a bit off in two areas

I was looking at Prof Clair as I heard her mention to Prof K that for every bit of food we eat, some is converted to energy, Some comes out as waste end business. She dropped that a LOT comes back out our mouths when we breath!

I couldn't find her comment on that

Found this which is the same

Majority of weight loss occurs 'via breathing'

Although it is often pushed to the side during the festive rush, during the post-Christmas fallout, weight loss will once more be at the top of many of our agendas. But where does excess weight go when we lose it? The answer provided by a new paper may be a surprise.

Not really a surprise - excess weight is almost all excess fat, which is the body's method of storing energy. The only way of removing this (other than surgery) is for the body to use the energy, by "burning" it in the normal body processes either by increased metabolism (mostly by physical or mental exercise but also some diseases, including anything that results in a fever) or decreased energy input (either from diet or restricting digestion, e.g. some drugs, some diseases).

Fats are composed of hydrogen, oxygen and carbon, and when when "burnt" by metabolism are converted to water and carbon dioxide. The water produced is mostly evaporated by cooling from the skin or some breathed out as moisture in exhaled air, and the carbon as carbon dioxide in exhaled air.

So, putting it metaphorically, your fat turns into thin air!
