I knew there was a reason we had the big heavy long thingy hanging off the bottom of boats. It seems that it is quite good at counter-acting what is happening on the stick thingy going the other way

Remember also that the strings that are keeping the stick thingy straight and roughly perpendicular to the 'deck' are also trying to break the hull in half at the same time.

There are some brands of mass produced yachts that you really don't want to tune for racing too much.

Bullseye. The thing in the vid is missing a centreboard! What were they thinking?

This gives a bit of a story on the boat repairs and what went wrong from the owners perspective.

The Latest America Cup boats explained. Sorry, but to me they are more like aircraft than boats. It must be terribly difficult to adjust to driving one of these things. I take my hat off to any one game enough to go to sea in one , let alone drive it.

    mmm, same principles as aeroplanes.

the sail generates lift , the boat moves into the low pressure area.
