That's the exact reason I think nationalism is crap. Why should anyone feel ashamed and on the same level proud for the actions of their ancestors? Why do you rarely hear people say I'm proud to be x but not I'm proud of the (bad things) x did to get there? You can't have one without the other in a lot of modern cultures. I mean if you've directly profited from nepotism or inherited something derived from the misery or exploitation of others and you haven't addressed that then sure but you had nothing to do with the actions of your ancestors.Quote:
