If you only ever talked and were friends with people with similar views, it would get a bit dull. I would happily sit down and have a beer with anyone here, their opposing views are fine. I don't think this thread has even got very far out of line, just a bit of robust discussion - nothing wrong with that.
All good here I'm not hating anyone and have a beer with anyone too lol

That wasn't my point, Pedro. I was merely quoting the dictionary definition of "arbitrarily" that I believed suited the context in which trout used it. shwza was incorrect in using random as a definition in this case, and my comment was intended to tell him so. I didn't use "arbitrarily" in the first place, and it is not implicit that I either agree or disagree with trout.

However, since you mentioned it, I don't believe the number of mods who agree is in any way relevant. Maybe you are all wrong. Not saying you are, but you might be, in this instance or another..

Sheer weight of numbers proves nothing. Just ask XXXX drinkers...

This stuff will never stop. It's just too easy to be offended these days.
The thing that concerns me with this type of "judgement" is, who is the offended? The adults deleting the books or the children they are aimed at???? I'm quite sure the children just see a cartoon drawing. But then again kids are being schooled it how to be offended.

When I was a kid we had "Little Black Sambo". Try and find that these days. Dit it turn me racist? Did it bollocks. It did make me a little scared of tigers, but that's logical and healthy, right? The whole thing was a cartoon, but cartoons used to be valuable.

Kids are supposed to be exposed to Seuss, Hans Christian Anderson, Grimm. These stories are allegories of life. But we can't have our kiddies getting exposed to germs, can we?

    Jesus wept.

What words in your opinion are "Apropriate" to use to describe homosexuals on this forum that won't upset anyone so that we can use them in our posts so that nobody else gets their knickers in a knot over what is posted???

True, but if you're a highly educated academic then you can easily see through it all.

Phillip Nel, professor of English at Kansas State University - "Was the Cat in The hat Black?". He contends the 'Cat' is a stereotypical depiction of a black person.
