No TPMS fitted? Its surprising to me that a blown rear tyre would cause what appeared to be an instant roll-over.

I thought the same. I watched it a number of times to see if they actually hit something. In the video I didn't notice much of the sway he mentioned, but video can be deceptive. I also wondered about loading, a frequent topic on here.

Anyway, can't have been fun. At least they survived.

Happened to a mate of mine, in a Prado.
    Same reason for the roll.

Not nice, luckily they only had minor injuries.

Cargo barrier helped with reducing injuries.

Left rear tyre is the most common one to fail on those types of roads.

I watched the entire video and this is the end result of people with NFI heading bush.

This sort of thing is why we are paying exorbitant insurance premiums these days

Have a look at the left rear at 20.45, you'll know what you're seeing.

The whole vid just confirms something about bogans.

This is a second video. ( whoops had another look and its all in one video)

In the first video one of their group blew a turbo very spectacularly on a sandhill near Birdsville( not Big Red) which also destroyed the motor. .

I have never seen this before but funnily enough saw it again when a hoon tried to do burn out with an AMG in Sydney's South west then a turbo blew and the car burned.

They also posted some nice scenes of being barefoot around a fire.
All in all I was pretty amazed that nobody was seriously hurt.
The videos are almost a "what not to do in the bush"

I believe that you have a definite point, trout. I have been maintaining for years that the licencing system in this country is a joke. I paid a lot of money to get an endorsement to tow stuff, using a vehicle designed with nothing else in mind except towing, and I most certainly did not learn all I needed to learn, but any fool can hook a camper, boat or caravan up to their dual cab, which is NOT designed to tow, and without learning the consequences of screwing it up. Dunno how this one went wrong, but, as I said, you have a point.

It's a pretty good bet that old mate in the blue ute failed/forgot to correctly reinflate the rear offside tyre that blew which was Part of the cause of this prang.
However even for your average driver a rear blowout alone wouldn't cause this disaster and I think that Lack of experiance, overloading/badly loading the trailer AND the ute, Overconfidence and a cavilleer attitude to road saftey which was clearly displayed earlier in the Vid were the major cause of this accident.
