They may be a better car but in this country an old Jag will never be worth as much as any old Holden / Falcon in similar condition. I'd never buy a Holden myself as Im more into Chrysler but Ive seen 25 year old ****box Commodores go for ridiculously high prices. 20-25 years is supposed to be the valueless time when cars are worth next to nothing.

I'll give you the tip, it will be a lot cheaper to restore a Holden / Falcon as being able to source parts without paying international postage will save you an actual fortune.

Yep, I was looking for an HQ to HZ wagon a few years back - was going to be $20K plus for a reasonable runner.

Bought the Jag for about half that with RWC and everything working - including AC.

I get why they are expensive - supply and demand, but it was too steep for me - last HJ I bought cost me $300 and was a good runner - that was in the early 90’s though...

There was a Kingswood on grays online yesterday or the day before.
Went to a mate of a mate's the other day he had an fx and a hr in the garage getting restored. The fx is going to look sick

They are out there and can be found for the right price as you just need to have the cash available and be on the ball.
For instance about 2 months ago I happen to know someone who asked me to help look at and then bought himself a HZ Premier wagon for $2500- with original 308 auto and electrics, Yes it dose have some rust, issues and the engine is a little tired (425000kms) but easily repairable and a good project base.
He found that on Facebook market place and was only listed for 5 min when he found it and got straight onto it.
So keep hunting as they are out there

It’s not just Holdens. A few years ago I found a late 1960’s Porsche 911 that ticked the boxes as a fun weekender for less than $20k. After much to-ing and fro-ing I decided not to get it and I ended up lending some money to a family member instead. Fast forward to last year and I saw the same car with no extra work done to it sell for $120k. Oops...

my mate is Holden mad, not my cuppa tea as l am all ford. But he belongs to a club for hq Monaros etc. A pic of his pride and joy.

I was looking at FE Holden's the other day , Don't think I will be buying another . My low mileage maculate BMW is worth less than a FE or FC these days . I bought one back in 1967 for under $1000 from the car dealer ship I worked for sold it couple of years later for $1500 .

I drove past a car yard yesterday and noticed a Holden HQ (I think) with "40K" on the windscreen and I don't think that is the mileage!
