    Portable winch ideas please

I am after a portable 12 volt winch good quality but not too expensive. Hand winching is not as easy now, must be an age thing. I want to be able to attach it to my tandem for loading a vehicle, and have the ability to use it on my rear or front Reece tow hitch via a quick release mount. The 12volt battery would also be portable and charged after use. Ideas please.

For all but the shortest and lightest duty cycles, you will need to charge the battery during operation.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Jeez mate, if you are having trouble hand winching now because of your age , I think you are going to have trouble with a portable electric winch and battery , the weight will over come you and I don't think you will successfully design a quick release mount to go front/rear and on your tandem trailer.

I have just bought and fitted a small hand winch to raise/lower my spare tyre. It was a pain in the arse to mount that permanently.

I spent quite a bit of time looking at hundreds of winches (there are thousands of different types and sizes) before I bought the one I settled on.

Good luck with your efforts, love to see your finished result here.

On my D2a, I fitted a front 50mm receiver in the centre of the bull bar (bar was ARB winch ready version).
My Runva winch was attached to one of those receiver cradles, but as noted the combination was heavy to move around.
I had isolated 70mm cables with 350?A Anderson plugs running to the front and rear tow receivers from the dual battery (Tim's Traxide 160 system).
Actually never used the system in anger, but would have worked for your situation with a receiver hitch mounted on the trailer.

For over 20 years I have used a boat/trailer hand winch connected to a long tow tongue. I use this either on the rear or front of my landy to move trailers, caravans or dead landies. I also have an A frame to push or pull. I have another hand winch bolted to a tilt tandem. Last week while winching a LWB Series 3 on to the tandem in the heat of summer I thought there must be a better way.
