This is taken from the SA Speed limit guideline which is a publication from the department of planning transport and infrastructure

Change via File/Properties or type here (dpti.sa.gov.au)

3.4.5 Installation and location of signs Signs shall be installed and located in accordance with the requirements of AS 1742.4 Appendix C.Where possible, signs indicating the speed limit to opposing traffic directions should be fixed back-to-backon a single post.

Another cost cutting measure, rather than a road safety issue. I would think that implementing the 'One Post' rule would be somewhat difficult in a lot, if not the majority, of situations.

    Dual carriageways spring to mind.

Doesn’t work very well in practice.

Out of curiosity how do *you* see the back of a sign as you approach it? I’m still not understanding how your point is even relevant.
How is a signs mounting point even in this?

]Doesn’t work very well in practice.

    Why is that?
The posted speed limit is easily visible regardless of the other sign on the other side of the post.

Out of curiosity how do *you* see the back of a sign as you approach it?

Easy you look at the sign going into town and look at it on the way home, What part of that don't you understand?

I’m still not understanding how your point is even relevant.

It is relevant because where the sign is put is where the speed limit changes.
Speed up before you get to the sign or slow down after you get to the sign and you are breaking the law and will cop a fine if you are caught.

There are 3 main things that you Have to avoid doing while you are driving.

1 Don't consume alcohol before or during your drive.
    2 Dont speed.
    3 Don't use your phone.

IF you can manage to do this then all this "revenue raising" that everyone seems so upset about will end.
IF you are unable to do these 3 simple things then maybe you should rethink your driving habits or catch a bus instead

Seriously guys, blaming speed cameras and complaining about the millions of dollars the government is reaping from bad drivers isn't the answer.
Improving you driving habits IS the answer

1 is not illegal in SA
2 will get you a fine
3 is ok if using CarPlay, hands free or Siri

Again, rules for the lowest common denominators of society drag it backwards.

    That’s NOT what you wrote.

    Driving after drinking is legal
Having a drink whilst driving is legal in SA

As long as PCA isn’t exceeding legislated limits.
DUI is ambiguous as it can be applied to drugs, medications etc.

I am guilty of Number 3, all day, at work, with the appropriate Hands Free set up in the vehicle.

And probably number 2,if you call up to 5Km/hr over speeding, but I have only had one speeding ticket since 1984.

    And I do well over 35 000Km a year.
