    Gippsland

Looks like I may be working at East Sale for a couple of months (Aug/Sept). Current plan is to drive over so I will have my own vehicle to play in. Anyone here live in that general area?

    I don't but have a great trip.

That you take the Defender is a given, but in the light of diesel prices, wear and tear it would be interesting to do a cost benefit analysis of driving yourself versus trucking it across the country. Fuel, plus tyres and service, and motels etc.

That you may choose for reasons of enjoyment to ignore the results is another thing but good to have considered the pure financial aspects.

As I type I'm realising you are approaching the time when you will be changing over the vehicle (?) so maybe this will have a bearing on things.

    Hi James,

fuel etc isn't an issue as work will be paying, whereas they wouldn't pay to ship the vehicle AND fly me over. I will actually be doing them a favour though as they would have to rent a vehicle for me for 8 weeks otherwise.

Wear and tear is another matter I suppose but worth it I think to have the use of the vehicle while I'm there.

I have pretty much decided to keep the current vehicle when the lease runs out in December. I can re-finance the residual and run it for another three years on the salary sacrifice scheme and will own it outright at the end so that will be the sensible way to go.

    Cheers
