Important - NSW WorkCover Certificate Conversions

    From the RailPage forum:

FYI - NSW WorkCover requires all pre 1996 licences eg. boiler certificates etc. to be converted to a 'National System of Comeptency'. Cost is $30. It's to do with upcoming changes to OH&S Regulations. Go to:

    http://www.workcover.nsw.gov.au/OHS/...cy/default.htm

You have until end-August 06 to do this, otherwise you look like having to apply for a full reassessment through a private assessor. This would affect pre 1996 'Open Class' boiler ticket holders etc.
Note that other certificate holders affected are for cranes, forklift, front-end loader, pressure equipment, rigging or erect scaffolding.

It's worth checking in all States - if this is supposed to be a national scheme.

most nearly all trades are coming under a Federal system regarding on going training and licencing. Refrigeration/Air Conditioning is at the moment under the guise of pollution control (CFC's, HFC's, etc) however you have to prove qualifications/competencies (even if you've already done so for a state EPA....) and I believe there is going to be ongoing 'updating' mandated.
I still have to have a state license ($165/year) and now need two Federal licenses (@ $320 each for three years), one to authorise me to buy and the other to use refrigerants.
