Broome caravan parks?
Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions for caravan parks in Broome. I heard you need to book ahead & we are already cutting it a little fine (up in mid Aug.). We were hoping for one that was a little more natural rather than these resort types with pools, etc. We normally camp so this is a little different for us. Any thoughts appreciated

Cable Bay is OK. Stayed there 6 years ago so it may have changed.
Most parks up there are pretty natural, not like the east coast. Check the internet for more up to date info.

Give my #3 son a call if you wish to find out the latest - he's a Defender owner and a teacher at Broome High School.
PM to you on its way.

Broome Caravan Parks.
Hi Gofish.
The cook and I have usually stayed at the Cable Beach Park and have found it to be a good spot. Nice new swimming pool, clean toilets and close enough to Cable Beach and the resort to walk if you want to.
Bit expensive I suppose but we've always paid up and been happy to get in there.
Roebuck Bay is a good park if you can get a decent spot but the woman on the front desk looks as if she sucks lemons for breakfast and is a proper grump.
Better book soon as you'll end up queing outside or on an overflow park otherwise.
Have a good trip and enjoy the fishing off the jetty.
Alan.

I heard from a guy who did a caravaning trip through Broome that, I think it was the PYC or something like that, opens their grounds up to visitors during the busy season. He said toilets and showers were clean and the stay was most enjoyable.
We stayed at Palm Grove caravan park at Cable Beach. We were there in April 2005 just after the cyclone hit the northern Kimberly so it was very quiet in Broome. August would be another story.
Hope you enjoy your stay, Broome is a bit pricey but they have a short tourist season so they make money while they can.
