He would not have this problem if he'd bought a Defender...

You can laugh, but that's exactly the reason I had to sell my SF90. It's an issue that Ferrari needs to address. If Fiat/Chrysler/Jeep had a similar design flaw, they'd immediately recall them for warrantied rectification.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

I think my retirement dream car would have to be a Rivian, as it is a 4wd with a decent range I could still do my weekend drives, and being all electric it wouldn't cost me any pension money with my solar panels.

Then again, if you can afford a rivian, you can also afford an ICE car that is most likely cheaper and have money to spare for the fuel

I bought our D4 new in 2016 intending it to be our retirement vehicle but I'm afraid there's too many stories of engines crapping themselves etc. for me to keep it much longer. Problem is the huge cost of getting a replacement especially with all the car yards having low stocks and what they have is massively overpriced.
Maybe younger bro will give me his old (3 years) Bentley Speed Plus he intends trading in for a Bentayaga or whatever it's called. I won't hold my breath though.
