Brisbane to be voted as 2032 Olympic host.

It's a shoe in. Brisbane has been given preferred city status, and no other city is running against it. What could possibly go wrong?

The winner is Brisbane. 2032, should be out of lockdown by then.

Major infrastructure build on the way, the Gabba to be pulled down and rebuilt bigger & better. A major sports centre in Brisbane City will showcase swimming as well as other yet to be named sports. It will be bigger than Expo, can't wait.

It’s ours! Get ready, Brisbane, the world will be watching you for the next 11 years (inqld.com.au)

A waste of money , better spent elsewhere.

I will go against the grain. What a waste of money. There are plenty of communities that could do with things like a descent supply of water, hospital upgrades, and numerous other pieces of infrastructure. Why was Brisbane the only applicant ?. Bring it on.

I would agree with that - and isn't it telling that no other city in the world ended up submitting a formal bid - maybe they know something that Brisbane doesn't. Apparently the decision to bid was made well before the current Premier came to office and she was not keen on it at the start but after a time came around. I wonder what changed her mind.

Good luck to Brisbane I do hope it goes well but you will need deep pockets and overall experience shows economic returns are not necessarily realised and ends up being a costly exercise.

I'll go along with that too. All those cheering and partying at the super spreader event at South Bank tonight will soon be whinging about traffic delays and road closures during any construction and then some more whinging during the games when they cannot get to their favourite restaurant/pub/beach/whatever or work, because of traffic and tourists.

Me,......I'll just stay home. Or maybe go on holidays to the other side of the country.

I think anywhere outside this 700km radius should be safe for the duration of the games.
