Visited the local Bunnings at 10:39 last Tuesday morning. I knew what I was getting and where it was and used the self-checkout at 10:44 and was out of there by 10:45. I was masked up but have a beard so likely not effective when breathing .

I just got a notice via our Covid Tracer App that someone with covid was also there between 10:30 and 10:48am.

Been told to monitor my health for symptoms for 10-days till 28th Jan and get a test if symptomatic and stay home if positive etc etc. Bugger! Damn!

Read the news about the case and it is an assumed omicron case that came into NZ from South Africa and did their MIQ in Chch. They had a negative day 9 test and were released on their 10th day - Sunday. Yesterday they were symptomatic and tested positive. So far 15 locations of interest have been logged so it looks like it has a fair chance to have establish here perhaps.

A few earlier cases in Auckland so far and a few close contacts positive but no community outbreaks -- yet.

RAT test neg for me at present does not mean I could not be so I am having a week remote working with fingers crossed no one else falls over. Over 100 kids and 3rd dose are missing my sheep dog role restricted to hiding in one room till I escape out the back when everyone has gone.
The spreading it all out costs me several hundred $$$ I wonder if that's why I have a headache right now? It could be no coffee more likely or the thought I cannot run for a week again bring POST TRAUMATIC STRESS plus thoughts of laying in bed for months

The consequences of being a close contact are actually worse than getting it as at least if the whole family gets it you can breathe easy for a month or so and you don't have multiple consecutive isolation periods. Also those damn fruits of our loins are nothing other than fly traps for covid in my opinion

those damn fruits fun at the start and in some ways just get better The fly traps are all the kids I am inviting in at the moment. Lolly pops, ice cream and Iced bubble tea place all getting a workout post with mums and dads helping smooth the process a little
