Brad's post obviously belonged in the jokes section where it was posted. I'm not sure whether the response belonged there but I'm pretty sure my response belongs here.
I have the impression that the medical profession is still learning about COVID. It seems that more treatments are being found as a result of rigorous trials.
While it certainly seems that
Azithromycin is another useful arrow in the quiver of treatments available, it is important to remember that like all treatments, there is the possibility of side effects. Some of those side effects sound quite serious.
According to this site:
Prescribing azithromycin - Australian Prescriber
While some people would like to believe that there is a single product that is some sort of magic bullet, the truth appears to be that this drug, like all others has the risk of side effects. Consequently it is probably best administered under medical supervision after consideration of whether the benefits outweigh the risks.
I believe that the fact that medical science is still finding new treatments
is proof that all the restrictions put in place over the last couple of years were justified. It avoided things spiralling out of control
until medical science found ways to have some semblance of control over the problem.
