Be interesting to see the National rise in cases as this progresses . In the UK they were using the nominal figure of 10% of cases were hospitalisations. If NSW gets to 25,000, per day, could put a lot of pressure on the hospital system, and indeed , their already exhausted staff. This may test us.

Maybe it is human nature but I think collectively, we tend to overlook those people who have been hard at it since Day1 of this business. Ambos must be worn out, together with front line staff & back room folk (Inc Diver ) Test centres in all sorts of outdoor locations tolerating heat & Cold, Wind, Crowds, Police at road blocks even though the overtime may be great & many others who I can only imagine are doing what the hell they can, who are unknown to me. Have there been Family breakups because of it? I guess we will never know.

But I dips me lid to all those above & many more I know not who they are.

    Just sayin'.

    No way.

As i said earlier, chaos is coming to Qld.

But what do you do?Many businesses have been finding it very difficult, then again,it maybe more difficult in another month or so when a huge number of Covid cases appear.

There there my son don't take on so. I could find you a bed if things get that bad, always assuming you can escape Q. If you have to shift your arse can you ensure your S1 is on the list of things to bring with you besides a toothbrush & spare jocks?

Then again, by that time the situation may have changed & SA is much worse off.

Nothing to do with the pressure from the Murdoch press then? I glanced at the Herald-Sun the other day and the front page was screaming about mask changes being a betrayal.

Then there's the constant carry on about borders and families being separated .... every tabloid heart-string being tugged.

    In 50 years time ...

If Omicron isn't as benign as everyone seems to be crossing their fingers and hoping is the case, when historians write about this time they'll point to the deadly confluence of media and political pressure on politicians to remove restrictions for Christmas coinciding with the arrival of a deadly new strain. Result: an explosion of infections, a huge number of deaths and the collapse of Australia's hospitals and medical system.

Regardless of how benign or otherwise Omicron is, that assumption is ignoring the massive vaccination program most of us have just completed. Surely that must have some effect in the equation?

Of course it does. But going on the European experience, Omicron is going to infect many more than delta, and a percentage of those are going to hospital and a percentage of them are going to the ICU. It doesn't take an Einstein to work out without basic restrictions , such as masks, those percentages are going to be high. And health workers are not robots. exhaust your health workers,[ and indeed some of them will be infected] and you are in deep ****. Sorry but my opinion is NSW has dropped the ball again. I sincerely hope I'm wrong.
