I have now started using a weird bit which allows weekly by using other places that have a different fortnightly cycle and shifting vax between us. It is a PITA but works. All of us got caught with our pants down by the change to Five Months booster. Had that seensable choice being November A million plus more would have had a booster today!

Two of mine did a very valid dummy re the new school/kindergarten style training. It repeats the same really insulting stuff we have already been subject to. 2 plus hours per module.

IF we only reviewed the 30 changes would only take us 40 minutes as most of it we all ready know. More than a few grumps on this topic are expected! Its a little like being asked to rebuild your entire truck if you change just the oil

Covid Boosters are walk in no bookings at several city sites!!!!!

Royal exhibition centre covid booster walk in St V running it

Monash health was walk in for booster 4/5 December it is not clear if it is still

Morning Des, wish I had good news. However it has been reported a child under 10 died in hospital, and on testing ,was found to have COVID in NZ. The Coroner is to determine cause of death. 38 children were in hospital with COVID, reported as the Delta variant. NSW has 2482 new cases, with 206 in hospital, 26 in ICU. France has stopped UK tourists from entering France due to the out of control Omicron wave. Apart from that it's a glorious day in Brisbane, just another day in paradise.

    From the New York Times;

A report from Pfizer-BioNtech states that the low dose shot for children fell short for children aged 2 to just under 5, and did not produce a potent immune response/ Pfizer has said it will now test a third low dose of the vaccine in children 6 months to under 5.

In ongoing clinical trials the companies tested 3 micrograms of the vaccine - one tenth of the adult dose- in children 6 months to less than 5. After 2 doses , children between 6 months and 2 years produced an immune response that was comparable to people aged 16 to 25 years . But children between 2 and 5 did not. The companies said they would now test a third low dose of vaccine in children aged 6 months to under 5, but said they will not test a higher dose in children of that age.

Any Child's death is tragic but @ 10 is maybe a bit more so. As were those in Tassie (who thought it was a good idea not to tether those things?) a 1 m fall is certainly better than a 10m fall. They have a history of taking off but the people who operate them all appear to be tarred with the same Gypsy brush.

Personal case in point. Some years ago the Stirling Outdoor Market was held on a downhill section of township metalled road. Each time the "Gypsies" ( local businessmen) attended they would erect a Bouncy Castle. On this day it suddenly collapsed with little kids inside & struggling to get out from within. 'indoors grabbed our two grandchildren & a few others before it completely sank.

    Cause.
The portable air blower which keeps this thing erect & was facing down hill had parted company with the inlet "duct" & had taken off down hill. On our investigation we found the fastenings which were used had dried out (PVC Duct tape of many layers & it had dried out being in the sun most of it's life.. No mechanical locks of any sort) Plus vibration from the Blower. The Blower was not anchored to the road which allowed it to move away from the castle therefore no air supply to keep it inflated.
No injuries but I bet some littlies had a mentally bad time afterwards. Maybe some still do?

The Committee were informed & the bloody thing was never seen there again. Those things need to be routinely inspected & licensed as would the Tasmanian equipment. Maybe it was???

Blind Freddy could have seen it was an accident just waiting to happen in both cases.

    I digressed, Apologies.

As indoors & I discuss from time to time, we must have come from good strong stock to get to where we are today without dying.

Like you, we have seen off The Polio era plus plenty of others that put plenty into boxes for their final trip.

Ok, we have mostly all had the usual run of the mill stuff + few odd ones that stopped us in our tracks but up to now, nowt terminal & Ca has had two pops at me in my young/latter life but I saw those off.(crosses fingers)

Summat will trip me up one day you can bet your socks on that, (hopefully a jealous husband while caught in flagrante.).

I may see you up there one day^^^^^^^^^.

EDIT. 16:04 I hear that these things are now illegal in Tassie, the operator's website has now closed down. I wouldn't like to be in their shoes when it is investigated thoroughly. $ks of $ coming up I suspect.

Only the good die young. Nothing more I want to say really.

EDIT After watching the news clip I will say something . The vision of the two first responders says it all.

There have been a number of similar accidents in the UK and Europe over the last couple of decades. Am surprised there is not more stringent controls in place over the way they are set up and the weather conditions under which can be operated

The good the not so bad and the ugly

Booster good news. double vax ok news. Prior infection not good news- so much news.
The Good "The protection you're left with after the third dose is bigger, broader and more memorable than you had before"
The not so Bad "Two doses of some vaccines offer almost no protection from an Omicron infection, although they should still greatly reduce the risk of becoming so ill you need hospital care."
The Ugly The risk of reinfection with the Omicron coronavirus variant is more than five times higher and it has shown no sign of being milder than Delta

    The data from

"Dec 17 (Reuters) - The risk of reinfection with the Omicron coronavirus variant is more than five times higher and it has shown no sign of being milder than Delta, a study showed, as cases soar across Europe and threaten year-end festivities.
The results of the study by Imperial College London were based on UK Health Security Agency and National Health Service data on people who tested positive for COVID-19 in a PCR test in England between Nov. 29 and Dec. 11.
"We find no evidence (for both risk of hospitalisation attendance and symptom status) of Omicron having different severity from Delta," the study said, although it added that data on hospitalisations remains very limited.
"Controlling for vaccine status, age, sex, ethnicity, asymptomatic status, region and specimen date, Omicron was associated with a 5.4-fold higher risk of reinfection compared with Delta," the study, which was dated Dec. 16, added.
" Prof Danny Altmann, an immunologist from Imperial College London paper has not yet been peer reviewed. It looks solid data!

Right on, 3T. All over the globe in fact. At the time of our "crisis" we did raise that point & get this, "No Inspectors(?) were available after hours when these things are usually set up." FFS!

My reply to that was they could be spot checked. Then if there was an ACCIDENT(???) then they should have their licence to operate said **** withdrawn until they met decent standards.

Then we got the old deaf ears act.

If it was their kids involved or one of their politicaL master's kids then action would have begun there & then.

I think it was under the control then of "Factories & Entertainment Dept". ????? FFS!

I reckon a couple of Concrete Aircraft/airfield Tie down blocks could be used regardless of the weather. It works for them. Have solid professional fittings ie. Shackles/Inglefield clips & don't rely on some clown's knowledge of Knots.
