Seen that before, I believe it is at Eli Creek on Fraser. Good luck on explaining that to the insurance company

Sh#t I hope that doesn't happen to me in a couple of months at my first time to the island. Any one got a best guess how he could have lost the car like that. I mean it looks like the car is not only half way under water but sand as well.

1st they advertise the Hilux as unbreakable

and now a surf that can't surf

I have heard these things get bogged easy, but that is crazy .

Just don't stop in Eli Creek on Fraser. My old series 2a used to splutter and stop at the first sign of water. Many times I just managed to get the front wheels over the far side embankment only to have it die with the rear end sinking. I was able every time to do a very fast exit, pop the bonnet, spray RP7 like crazy, re-enter and presto it always fired up. The kids though it was great .

The wife only gave me the stare .

It looks like Eli creek on Fraser to me too. Only been to Fraser once and everyone always talked about Eli being bad at high tide. I never drove near there at high tide and I never had a problem and I would have driven through it a fair few times - all at close to low tide though.

In the pic, it looks like this guy is reasonably high up, so I wonder if he was driving around with a rising tide then got stuck and eventually the tide went over him and buried him...but this is all guessing.

I'm mainly replying to whoever posted above (can't remember the i.d) and hoped they wouldn't have a problem when they go to Fraser. Fraser was my first beach driving experience and I only drove in those areas at low tide and I didn't have any problems at all.

Easy to get stuck on Fraser. I have seen it happen first hand.

If you cross onto the Island via Rainbow Beach (southern end) make sure you stop at the pub and one of the servos (BP I think). They have an honour board showing vehicles wrecked on the rocks just below the shopping area. There is even an army unimog that got stuck.

Sand and waves are very unforgiving when not treated with respect.

It appears to be a valid test, the bit below the ground sealed from oxygen is the control, when the test is complete the area exposed to the weather should have rusted more than the bit below if the rust protection doesnt work.

Love it, they should do it to all toyotas.

With that many people you think they could afford a proper burial!!!

My first trip to Fraser was an experience I'll never foget.
Best Mate showing me the tips and tricks to driving on the sand in a Hired toymota.
"Look at this ***** right up my ****" I said while driving up the beach at 80K's
"First tip don't use the brakes" he says
Eli creek crossing ahead low tide I started to head for the shallow side.
"Just go straight across, Don't forget to use the gears, and what ever you do don't touch the brakes" Mate says
Hit the bank, down through the gears up the other side No Problems albeit a tad to fast.Out the other side Mate's ****'in himself.
    "What did I do Wrong?"
    "Nothing Just check the rearview"
Looks in rear view to find Near New Pootrol and new camper trailer making love to each other. And of course goes with out saying we didn't stop.
