The first radar satellite images are starting to become public.

Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai has almost disappeared - Francois Guerraz - Medium

Not surprised that some above water real estate has disappeared.

One of our local council air pressure sensors picked up the pressure wave. KaBoom! is right.

A touch concerning now - since most of the island got blown away, the vent is now well under water, so could result in an even larger explosion. This volcano is known (in a geological timescale) for multiple eruptions in a short time span so will likely pop off again soon.

Given that it’s erupted about a dozen times in the past century and at least three times in the past decade it will probably be a bit less than a thousand before the next one. It’s actually quite active.
